My mother has struggled with mental illness ever since I was born. She has been diagnosed with bipolarity and who knows what else. She suffers alone and therefore, when she loses control, we all suffer. This is to the point where me, my brother or father haven't been in constant contact with her for over 15 years. She lives in a shithole and struggles economically. I have tried to rebuild my relationship with her a few times, always failing as it's too painful and anxiety inducing to forgive and move on. Last time was with the Covid outbreak. I felt manipulated by her and so I stopped talking to her again. Her dad died from dementia. I hadn't seen my grandpa for the same amount of years and on his deathbed, when I saw was like looking at a dried out tree. I am afraid this will happen to my mother and to me as my brother doesn't seem affected by this situation the way I find myself although we have talked about this. My father is afraid of her as she can be very abusive, so he won't get close to her. They divorced 20 years ago anyways and she can't move on. She also lost her first son to Batten disease right after I was born. This is what triggered her mental illness. Ever since I was around 6 years old, I have though of death as an ever present factor of reality. More than depressive, this has made me over-analytical, hyper-rational and melancholic when I'm on my own. I am capable of functioning well by making a mindset split for my professional life. I assume this is why I can't allow anyone to be intimate with me. I have also become incredibly self-centered and I'm insecure about having become some sort of narcissist. I don't see a future for myself. The closest thing to a plan I have is to kill myself once both my parents are dead as I don't care for anyone else and I have no interest in engaging with society and its rules. All these things are painful and crushing. This movie resonates a lot and I haven't even seen it because I'm too scared to watch it. Talk about real horror.

The family prepared the body for burial, took several hours, performing preparations on the body, first cleaning it. There was no blood, or dirt on it after they finished cleaning. This movie ignores common body preparation methods. Nobody would want the body to be dirty, bloody prior to mummification which is done later. The wrappings would be of new cloth, not dingy and torn. Is that the girl with Matt Damon from the last scene of Bourne Supremacy.

When Edna (Robin Nevin) has not been heard from for a few days, her daughter Kay (Emily Mortimer) and her granddaughter Sam (Bella Heathcote) leave Melbourne to check on Enda at her house in the rural countryside. Edna is found only to see that her mental state is deteriorating as it starts to physically manifest itself within the house.
Relic depicts the deterioration of the mind of an elderly woman and asks what would this be like if this manifested physically outside ones psyche. This movie is similar to The Babadook as it takes a mental illness and depicts it physically in the confines of the created world. This works very well at times creating a very suspenseful atmosphere and an engaging story. Where this movie falters however, is it breaks it's own physical rules that it establishes. Edna's daughter and granddaughter begin to experience some of the similar things that she is experiencing. I get this is trying to depict that mental illnesses such as dementia are hereditary, but in some instances what happened in the movie does not work. In The Babadook, the creature is a manifestation of the main characters depression that only physically effects her and everyone else experiences the direct result or direct effects of that depression. In this movie, the mental deterioration physically effects everyone else as well.
This movie does create a very eerie atmosphere that carries the movie. This is complemented with good cinematography and a mostly haunting score that can sometimes be derogatory. The performances are mostly good but Robin Nevin, who plays the deteriorating old lady, gives a very creepy and dark performance. The movie is at its most interesting when exploring the effects of her mental state.
The best thing going for Relic is it's suspenseful atmosphere combined with its engaging story. Besides the plot details mentioned above and some strange editing choices, Relic is an enjoyable movie. This is not something that will remain with me but I had a great time watching it.

I would give anything to find out what is being hidden in the Vatican and see what is being kept from us. The first half was good- cinematography, writing, acting, dialogue, plot, effects- then everything went downhill. Stuck in lockdown with nothing to watch so we thought we'd give this a go. WTH we thought. It would have been more entertaining mopping the floors again or staring blankly out of the window. Starts slowly. Had a mediocre story that never grips at all. Throw in some average special effects/makeup and carpentry work and they called this a wrap? It is terrible.

Showing us the amount of books that they have down there is not revealing anything, It is the books and archives contents that is interesting to get to read, this just confirms that the vatican is still hiding something, something that they don't want us to know. don't get me wrong I do believe in God and In Jesus as his son but I have my doubts in the priests since they are human to. Rubbish only a relic if can be proven ( otherwise it's a money making scam by the church. nothing new there.

I just watched the whole movie from this trailer alone. Too many paradox situations with time travel, even if you could, he just found himself stuck in a loop, nearly. The loop is still running till he travels back, then it resets to be endlessly repeated. If this was possible he would not have a choice in whether or not to go back, he has to, or his bones would not be there. So he has no free will, even if you accept a situation like this that violates causality all the time. One crucial problem that this movie got right unlike most, is the location displacement, not just temporal one that they briefly showed here, though the effect is massive! Even over the 6 seconds they showed here you have travelled tens of thousands of miles through space, leaving a huge amount of kinetic energy to be dealt with upon arrival 2000 years ago: A couple of things, out of a lot more to think about.

I love your channel, and have nothing against relics, but this mad me cringe several times. Constructive criticism, it turned out less relic'd and more beat to shit IMO. Those thick poly finishes are so made to hold up that they are near impossible to age. If that weren't the case, I think it would look more natural. I'm in the middle of building a Barncaster and have had excellent results aging hardware with Muriatic Acid. I know heat isn't good for guitars, but that may be a good way to partially relic such a finish. Heat and cool to lift the finish to get it checking, then relic from there. Just an idea. All contructive. nothing to be taken negative I hope.

The movie is just Carrie but not as interesting, it tries to be "woke" but fails. This movie is one of those movies where you keep checking how long is left, the ending is so stupid, WHY WOULD THEY HUG THEIR KILLER GRANDMA. The ending really shows how retarded the characters are. Overall the scariest part of the movie is how long it takes for it to actually be scary, this movie should be a drama, and ONLY a drama, I watched this with my family and my dad hates horror movies, but he didn't even flinch, so yeah, not the best.
