Let me start off with a basic disclaimer, though it almost seems silly because most people judge a review by the rating and subheading. I am a fan of Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series. The books, and even the movie, is a fun form of escapism for people of all primarily the target audience seems to be adolescent girls with stars in their eyes over the fictional Edward Cullen.
The movie is made quite well, though some of the casting is suspect (the choice of Carlisle leaves much to be desired) and whether you are a die-hard fan of the books or not, one must acknowledge the corniness that is Twilight. Admittedly it's different when you're reading two teenagers profess their undying love and swear an eternal commitment, but when you see it on film it is undeniably cheesy, and there is nothing Catherine Hardwick, Robert Pattinson or Kristen Stewart can do about it.
The high school awkwardness is endearing and rings true as opposed to what Hollywood typically portrays adolescence to be (re American Pie, Gossip Girl, almost any teen movie of the nineties) it's easy to identify with Bella Swan, fish out of water and chock full of clumsiness.
The script simply reflects the novel, and it suffers accordingly. Some of the hackneyed lines could have been removed without detriment, and some of the cringe worthy scenes even evoke laughter from the crowd. The meadow scene, a fan favorite, is disappointing and almost silly, evoking awkward giggles when the bad CGI kicks in.
It's an entertaining movie that followed the popular book, but a less loyal adaptation would have been better.

This is probably one of the worst movies. Ever. First of all let's check my movie background. I m a horror lover. A thriller/mystery lover. Which means I ve watched A LOT movies with vampires. This is not such a movie. The "vampires" are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off the beaten track. Which sometimes is not bad in itself. But it's another thing to leave the beaten track for a while, and totally another thing to stray so far away, you cant even see the beaten track. The vampires here shine in the sunlight (my gf said that Cullen shines more than Paris Hilton's purse. YES, SUNLIGHT. Sun doesn't kill them, day doesn't kill them. Moreover, they are, in their own words, VEGETARIAN. Oh and they have no pointy teeth. OK, in one sentence : day walking,shiny,toothless, vegetarian vampires. If that doesn't spoil it for you... I ll try again : I respect the genre of romantic comedies, romantic movies etc. The fact that I don't like the genre doesn't mean that fans of it are idiots or sth. We just have different tastes. OK? Respect. BUT, such cheesines is rare. The female protagonist acts as if she is suffering of chronic constipation. The male protagonist was very suitable for Harry Poter, but this overly white makeup and the cheesy vampiric love lines, don't suit him at all. The lines are awful. I mean, COME OOOON. I wouldn't recommend the movie to any adult. It could be a masterpiece for adolescents, under 15 though, but I don't think the adult audience will like that movie. Sorry for the intensity of this review, but truly, as far as my movie education goes, this movie is totally awful.
