Andys scheme was so clever it blew Nortons mind. “Hope is a very good thing “. There's always a bigger fish. The Shawshank Redemption is an adaptation of the short story, Rita Hayworth And The Shawshank Redemption from the novel Different Seasons by Stephen King.
Now i won't bombard you with "Oh! you HAVE too see it! or "You haven't lived yet if you haven't seen this movie. To be honest, everything I write in this review is strictly opinionated but if I was talking to a friend who asks me what my favourite movie of all time is I would answer The Shawshank Redemption. This movie is not without fault but what makes this movie so special is that you unconsciously put them aside to witness this story unfold. I remember the first time I watched it when I was 13-14 years old. I watched it with my mother and the movie contained a lot of swearing but she didn't seem to mind them. I like to think she was so entangled in this story that she was unable to care that she had five children and a husband and to be honest, I don't mind that because... I myself could've be in the same position as her and would've probably done the same. What The Shawshank Redemption does is that if you watch it at the right time in your life, it could change how you view the world. And if you're wondering if my last remark was true, take it from a guy that actually was a victim to this wonder of a film.
The Shawshank Redemption is a contender of the title of The Greatest Movie Of All Time. Now while I said that The Shawshank Redemption is my favourite movie of all time. I never said it was the best. That title belongs to 2001: A Space Odyssey but that's another review for another day.
Finally, the real question is should you see it? And in my opinion, absolutely. If you have 2 hours and 40 minutes to spare go for it or if you're just really bored and want to watch something, The Shawshank Redemption will not disappoint. I remember Roger Ebert claiming that he adored the movie the second time round. Of course i'm paraphrasing but, I 100% agree with Roger Ebert's claim. This movie does get better every time you watch it. Even if you know every single line of dialogue, if you decide to re-watch it, knowing the twist and turns of it, you will forget about it instantly and relive the experience.
As I said in the start of this review, I wasn't going to bombard you with predictable comments on how great the movie was and I think I held up my end of the bargain pretty well. Now I hope I will turn your head around and encourage you to watch this film as that is the job of the film critic. To tell you what movie is and isn't worth your time and money. And The Shawshank Redemption is the perfect example of a movie that is absolutely worth your time and money. 9/10.

The movies add a bunch of stuff that isn't in the books, and remove important things from the books. These movies are pretty horrible tbh. I could do much better with that budget.
