いきなりですが、皆さんは相撲にどんなイメージがありますか？

暑苦しい、体が大きい人にしかできない、ほぼ裸の男がほぼ裸の男とぶつかり合うなんてありえないし自分とは無縁の世界・・・。そんな事思ってませんでしたか？

what is your image for SUMO?? i can here "its the sports for big body,and its not my style...  " something like this.

というわけで！本当のところどうなのか知るために今回Beppaper編集部りくとさあやはAPU相撲部に潜入取材＆体験入部してきました！！

体験当日、待ち合わせである体育館に行ってみると、さわやかなAPU学生の姿が・・・・。あれ、場所間違えた？いやいやいや、違います、こちらがAPU相撲部の皆様です。

so Riku and Saaya went to join the sumo club for a day to know about sumo!!!

when we went into the gym, we saw these people... wait,,, they should be really really big and fat, shouldnt they???

THIS IS APU SUMO club!

初めてのまわしに興奮冷めやらぬまま、さっそく、練習に入ります。

体操から始まり、柔軟、そして相撲の醍醐味である、四股（シコ）に入ります。この四股、実際にやってみるとわかりますが、かなりきついです。（笑）たったの10回四股を踏んだだけなのにどこからともなく止まらない汗の滝。お尻が三回ほどつりかけました。

その後、すり足、ぶつかり稽古と続き、お待ちかねの実践練習に入ります。編集部も気合を入れ望みます・・・

Riku wore the Mawashi and started practice. they started from the exercise and then Shiko. Shiko looks really easy but its not!!! he did only 10times but a lot of sweat came out,,,, lol

はい。みなさんめちゃくちゃ強いです。

まず腕が丸太並みに太いですし、そもそも体がでかすぎてまわしがつかめません。最初は「今回Beppaper編集部が相撲部にいどみに行って、何の苦も無く勝っちゃう記事でどうですか！？」と大口をたたいていたリクもこの通り。

So lets fight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 

Riku "They are OMGashly BIG!!!! i cant even grab the Mawashi,,,," well, Riku was saying "im gonna be the winner for today, i am sure i will not lose." oh well,,, he is now losing haha

強い！they are so STRONG

しかし、男の意地を見せ、なんとか勝つこともできました！

but Riku tried over and over and finally won!

体験終了後、Beepaperに入って一週間、りくに相撲部が猛烈オファー。笑

「相撲部次期キャプテン候補」として、相撲の頂点を目指すため、電撃移籍を心に決めたそうです。（うそです）

体験前のイメージとは異なり、実際体験してみると、とても楽しいし、周りの方々優しくて、びっくりするほど素晴らしい環境でした。

after the practice, the Somo club asked Rku to join their team.

(just kidding)

こちらの相撲部に指導をされている末宗さんは、な、な、な、なんと相撲6段！教え子には世界チャンピョン、全日本チャンピョンも何人かいらっしゃるというすごいお方！

意外と大学の相撲界にはヒョロヒョロな人が多いらしく、練習すれば相撲の大会で優勝するのも夢じゃない！らしい。そしたらAPUの顔！大分県の顔！相撲界の顔になれちゃうかも。。。。ｗ

The teacher of this sumo club is actually really strong. some of his students became the Japan Champion and World Champion. in fact, a lot of sumo wrestler of Univ. are not that big. therefore, if you practice a lot, it is not hard to become the champion of the world!!! so if you wanna be the No.1 of something, why dont you join the Sumo club and be famous!?

そんな相撲部が現在、部員が四回生に偏っていることと、国際生の大半が、帰国を控えていることにより、廃部の危機に瀕しています！というわけで、絶賛新入部員募集中です。有り余る活力をぶつける場所がないそこの君！素晴らしい仲間たちと共に、素晴らしい環境で、最高の学生生活を送りませんか？

相撲部には日本人学生の倍程のキリバス、アメリカ、シンガポールなどからきている国際生が所属しています。日本文化を一緒に満喫して国際交流まで出来ちゃう最高の機会！

Since Sumo club has only 4th year students and exchange students now, they need new members!  if you want to learn the real japanese culture, you should join!

相撲部は毎週月水金曜日の18時‐20時半まで下界で練習を行っています。

最近はAPUの体育館でも部活を行っているそうなので、気になった方は是非連絡を取ってみてください！入ったら毎回ご飯をご馳走になれるかも。。。(Beppaperメンバーも食べ放題ゴチになりました・・・・ｗ)ふとっぱら！

they are practicing Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 6PM-8:30PM in downtown. some times they hold practice at the APU gym too so please contact the leader of the Sumo club if you are interested in!  the teacher offers really good food everytime! lol Beppaper members had free food too hahahahaha
