The goonies reunion. They just don't make movies like this anymore. I never get tired of 'The Goonies' as it reminds me of my childhood. It's every boy's fantasy come true! Buried treasure, pirate ships, booby traps, and BMX bikes! It's the quintessential youth adventure movie. If you haven't seen it yet, you may not think it's all that great, but if you saw it as a kid, the magic is still there. The goonies dvd. The goonies characters. Within an hour from seeing The Goonies at the local cinema, I was in the back yard of my house with a shovel looking for buried treasure. Even though I was in Massachusetts and had no clue of any pirates had been there in the past 400 years, I was determined to find "One Eye" Willies treasure behind my house. Seeing this movie for the first time at the age of 8, I was one of millions of kids who were blown away by this Family action / comedy.
A modern day fantasy that is still as good when it came out almost 20 years ago, the story of beating the odds, good verse evil, finding hope in the most unlikely of places, the under dogs winning the day, and the age old take of discovery is what Goonies is all about. An interesting cast which makes the movie, the story is an adventure of youth and exploration, even though they never leave their home state. A terrific movie for the entire family.

The goonies brand. From my understanding it was supposed to be the full movie not a trailer so I guess it's not on. It's not on the YouTube app. Unless you're paying for something you're only going to watch just one how we could have done that with Blockbuster. The goonies cast today. The goonies soundtrack. At first I thought it was gay, but then I remembered I wanted to be Rob Lowe when I saw the movie St. Elmos fire as a little boy lmao. Probably never would've had his poster though lol. My posters were Terminator and Rambo.

"The Goonies" celebrates its 30th anniversary this year and I must say it hasn't aged as badly as some other films from the 1980s, yet it's not an outstanding movie by any means. Lets take a look at cast & crew first of all: Spielberg of course became an Academy Award winning superstar, but also many others achieved great things in their careers long after this film. Feldman became one of the defining kids actors of his generation. Brolin is an Oscar nominee. So is Sean Astin apart from starring in the epic "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. Ramsey became an Oscar nominee the same year that this one came out. Columbus is an Oscar nominee too. Plimpton and Pantoliano are Emmy winners. Ontiveros is an Emmy nominee. Davy became a really good Bond villain. So there is certainly lots of talent united in this film.
Unfortunately, these almost 2 hours (fairly long for a kids movie) did not turn out a 100% successful movie. There are some nice scenes in terms of adventure, comedy etc. for example the one when Chunk tells that he knows who the 3 villains are and can describe them to the police unknowingly that he is talking to them, but there are some bad moments too, like in the end when the father tears the contract into pieces. A classic example of overacting and there are more of these when the script simply tries to be too ambitious for its own good. Another example would be the meaningful speech by Astin's character down in the cave. So yeah, not a bad watch by any means, but not a truly epic children's movie either as many people consider it. Something in-between. All in all, I recommend it, but one watch is enough. Actually I am a bit surprised they never made a sequel for this one just like they did for many other very famous 80 films, for example "Back into the Future. Oh well, probably for the better I guess.
