Batman must defeat the plans of mysterious underworld figure Bane, who has a dark connection to his old teacher and the league of shadows, the sinister organization he thought destroyed. Thomas Hardy is superb as Bane, presented as a cult figure of sorts, as he is determined to bring down Gotham, exposing the facade of "hero" Harvey Dent, who, unknown to the public, turned bad and became a two-faced maniac. Batman took the blame instead, but this unselfish act will be thrown away by Bane, who talks of liberating Gotham and giving it back to the citizens, but of course it isn't as simple as that. br>
Anne Hathaway plays Selina Kyle/Catwoman, and does a fine job too as Bruce Wayne's love interest, whom he desperately tries to reform. That is the theme here, that Batman should be just a symbol, inspiring good to overcome evil, and not give in to fear and darkness.
More fantastic direction and action scenes to be found, and the ending, carefully foreshadowed and superbly orchestrated, will leave the viewer breathless and deeply moved. The perfect coda for this series, and an absolute triumph for all concerned. It will make you stand up and cheer.

This being my first review on IMDb, what better film to review than The Dark Knight Rises? What can I say about this film that has not been stated already by the critics and fans alike? This film wraps up Nolan's story of Batman is a way that is unprecedented. Nolan is an incredible storyteller and conveyor of emotion through the characters on screen that it leaves the viewer in awe.
The performances by Bale, Hardy, Hathaway, Caine, Oldman, and the rest of the cast are breathtaking and each actor gives an incredible performance. You really feel a sense of connection with each character despite their moral predisposition.
There have been some who have panned this film for being too long, for plot holes here and there, as well as many other little inconsistencies. To those who feel this way I say this: Nolan gave his superhero a true sense of humanity throughout this trilogy and reaffirmed that humanity by making the story and experiences relatable to the viewer. We all have our fallacies and assumptions, as well as flaws. Even Batman.
This film goes beyond the superhero genre and even if you are not a die-hard comic book reader or fanboy/fangirl, this is truly a brilliant film that touches on every level.
