In 2691 a power hungry evil overlord wanted to destroy the world in which Bill and Ted are worshiped, so that meant he had to destroy Bill and Ted. To do this he sent back two robots that were identical to B & T. They had the task of killing B & T and ruining their legacy so that the future would be totally different. They did kill B & T which made the great majority of the movie about B & T roaming around as ghosts trying to get back to Earth to save their girlfriends- affectionately known as "the babes." This entailed crossing paths with the devil, god, two Martians, and making a deal with the Grim Reaper. It was one big acid trip that lacked any creativity or coherence.

It was impossible not to like "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure" but the film was far from perfect, with some tedious passages as the duo visited historical locales that were presented believably, but not interestingly.
"Bogus Journey" does away with that problem by simply featuring worlds of fantasy, and creatures of fantasy too. Its special effects are also better, and for the most part, hold up well.
I did, still, find my mind wandering, though, and the plot was kind of hard to follow, but I don't think that's really the point. You're supposed to have a good time, and I did.
