8,9 of 10 star / / genre Sci-Fi / USA / The story of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia, and the others did not end with the destruction of the Death Star, it continues in this movie. Now Darth Vader plans to use them as bait to lure Luke Skywalker to him, and turns Han Solo over to Boba Fett as a prize to be delivered to crime lord Jabba the Hutt. I feel this is one of the few retroactive changes to the OT that I actually like even better than the original. Not just for the updated visuals (though they are nice) but mainly for the change in dialogue that is a bit more nuanced and less blunt like the original. It feels like Vader and Palpatine have history in this version, unlike the original where they feel very detached from each other, like theyre just these guys who have met once or twice.
Why you have to pay for 30 year old movie. I'd prefer this version because Ian McDiarmid is Emperor Palpatine all the way through. Worst part of my career right here. I love that the asteroid flying into the star destroyers command bridge at the very beginning is followed up by the hologram of the other officer being taken out via interference. KK: RISE MY FRIEND. 's helmet is rather shiny in this event. How much time did you send polishing it, Vader.
LOL that captain on the hologram getting wrecked at the beginning 😂. Damn those stormtroopers are like Don't move or he will electrocute you. This is part of the history of the cinema. While it may not appeal to modern audiences and make young viewers laugh at the effects - or lack thereof, it is a classic film. Just make sure before you rent or buy that you understand it is a narration of suspense, not action. And do pay attention to the music - it plays an important role here. Like the Wrath of Khan, Empire improves upon the first movie in the series. In fact, once all three were out, this remained the best of them. Often times the second movie of a trilogy feels more like a step that was needed to reach the conclusion rather than an adventure of its own. Empire succeeded where so many others failed, even in the modern trilogies. The characters are further developed, the special effects are ground breaking and the universe in which this is based is rich.
More than movie.
The Galactic Empire was so much more powerful and intimidating than the First Order. I bet back then in the cinema everyone was thinking: Wow, Darth Vader bows down to this old dude? but then you hear him speaking and your skin starts to crawl. My ipad is almost dead beacause of U. Vader already knew. He had a plan to turn Luke in secret and overthrow the emperor.
Everything is proceeding as I have foreseen. -Emperor Palpatine. When i was watching this, i had my facebook tab opened. i got a notification that goes ding when vader said Bidding. so it was What is thy bidDING my master. The only man in the Universe even Vader fears... One of the best special edition changes. I love the extra dialogue and having Ians voice. Is no one going to talk about the guy in the hologram that straight up dies right away from the asteroid strike.
