New review. 08/07/2019: Finally, the inner fanboyism in me has been tarnished. I ain't biased towards Marvel, the MCU for that matter, just because I love it as much as I do, so I put thought into any and all MCU reviews and give them unbiased, strong reviews and have reasons for my opinions. Not all MCU movies are great- to be honest there are some I don't even like that much, others I liked at first but have found myself loathing more as time goes on, the older I get. Take Captain Marvel, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, and Thor 2 for example; those are some I don't care for all that much. Endgame is in every sense of the word, fantastic. It's very well-executed and has so much emotion and captures the essence of each character, pushes boundaries and excels in cinematography, choreography, acting, directing (for the most part) chemistry, dialogue, action, narrative, and even development of character itself, with several story arcs concluding, rightfully so. To balance it out it has charm and comedy, which for the most part is funny and isn't overdone. But there are one or two jokes that feel forced or they're just unfunny. I couldn't care less about that awful newly-added "end-credit scene. come on, it's unfinished, forced and terrible, and who are we kidding it's a deleted scene if anything. You're definitely up for it if you sit for the entire three hours but ultimately, I feel, it's worth it and the film showcases what Marvel- the MCU, rather, is, has done and has become as a landmark in superhero movies and film itself. That FORCED all-women, all-out "heroism" scene is absolute, utter cringe-central, and not because I "hate women, or am some neckbeard "anti-feminist, no. It's just unnecessary, unessential and completely redundant in every sense of the word, to say the least. Also, Thanos, character-wise, at least, isn't nearly as good as he is in Infinity War, although one could argue he's actually at his peak performance wise here as he's more vicious, younger, thus, arguably faster and more extreme in combat, all the while keeping his wisdom and personality. No gauntlet? No worries, he's still menacing and extremely powerful. Have to praise the performances in particular, that of Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Paul Rudd, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, and I still have to praise the voice-work, motion capture and portrayal of the character by Josh Brolin - I still thought he was excellent as Thanos and Thanos, while not as epic and captivating as he was in its predecessor, is still genuinely awesome. I still absolutely love the film, maybe not just AS much, but it's still a 10/10 from me, even after having seen it numerous, countless times by now. And they probably couldn't have killed off Iron Man in a more heroic, selfless, heartfelt way. Ridiculously good performances are seen at the end, and that battle at the end is still one of the most incredible things I've seen to date. br> ACT I. INFINITY WAR > ENDGAME
ACT II. they're pretty much tied but I would have to give the upper hand to ENDGAME
ACT III. again, this is tough and they're almost tied, but I'll give ENDGAME the edge mainly thanks to, Good, just as long as we're all in agreement. in which battle ensues, Thor, Captain America and Iron Man vs Thanos, as well as the Avengers, Ravagers, armies of Wakanda and Asgard vs Thanos, the Black Order, Chitauri, etc, and because, well, Rogers wields Mjolnir and it's simply epic (and come on, that's pretty much everybody's favourite scene, is it not.
Despite some minor issues, the film's still very emotionally-driven, heartfelt, shocking, sad, fun, thrilling, menacing, intriguing and uplifting all in one, with some of the best and most epic action sequences of any film I've seen...
