That is not a bad thing because the facts are so organic as they unfold, this becomes the Joker backstory that you never knew you needed.
I'm a huge fan of both of Tim Burton's Batman films. who doesn't love Jack Nickolson? But this Joker gets moved to the front of all the lines, and makes Heath Ledger's J look contrived.
I was never a fan of his interpretation.
Let's not even mention the one-who-shall-not-be-named in the most recent J in Suicide Squad. Trash. Complete trash.
And, if you're a fan of Villain Dances like I am, this one is EPIC. It is awkward in the most real & vulnerable way and then rises to Mick Jagger perfection at the pinnacle.
Conflict & incongruity are what makes the villain dances so mesmerizing. My benchmark has always been creepy Mr Blond from Res Dogs when he's gleefully torturing the street cop, but Sam Rockwell always steals any show with his style anytime he's fulfilling his bad guy rolls. Joaquin and his villain dance aren't so forthright, it takes a few tries and he doesn't get it right every time, that's what makes the scene on the stairs so powerful & almost orgasmic. It's a glimpse into what his complete transformation will look like once he's embraced his alter ego, fully.
There's some other fun facts? that will shake up the DC Universe if you pay attention to details.
This film will absolutely be triggering to anyone who has suffered abuse, neglect, bullying, apathy from ppl supposed to help, or just downright inhumane treatment.
