太宰府天満宮参道には土産物店や梅が枝餅店が並んでいます。連日多くの外国人観光客で賑わう参道ですが、店の奥には静かで落ち着いた時間が流れる坪庭がある事はあまり知られていません。５つの店舗で坪庭が公開されています。どの店でも梅ケ枝餅１個１２０円から利用可能です。通常無料でお茶のサービスまでしてくれますよ。それでは参道の起点となる西鉄「太宰府駅」に近いお店から順に紹介していきましょう。

「松屋」は西鉄・太宰府駅を出て天満宮の参道を歩き始めてすぐ右の二軒目にある梅ケ枝餅店です。鉄筋コンクリートのモダンで小さな梅ヶ枝餅の販売所の奥に、茶房「維新の庵」があり、さらにその奥に庭園があります。入り口で注文すれば梅ケ枝餅一個１２０円からお茶のサービスを受けることが出来、ガラス窓の外に広がる庭に出て散策することも、また天気が良ければ庭で梅ケ枝餅をいただくことも可能です。庭をもつ参道の梅ケ枝餅5店のなかで松屋の庭は最も敷地がひろく、前庭と中庭そして奥庭にわかれています。前庭は日本庭園ですが、中庭は和洋折衷、そして奥庭は完全に西洋庭園です。松屋の庭園は日本と西洋が混在する独特の景観美をもつ庭園です。また、すぐ左に隣接する木造の大きな土産物店も松屋なのですが、なんとそちらは江戸時代の建築です。当時は旅籠を営み薩摩藩の定宿で、1858年10月には安政の大獄で京都から博多を経由して薩摩に逃げる途中の月照和尚をかくまったこともあり、部屋は当時のままだとか。茶房「維新の庵」の店名にはそんな由来があるのだそうです。

On both sides of An approach to a Dazaifutenmangu shrine are plenty of sweet grilled rice cakes "UmegaeMochi" shops of Dazaifu. Five of them have enclosed garden behind them. There is a tea shop in the back of each shop. They are basically paid, but you can use them for 120 yen UmegaeMochi. Please be sure to buy one or more Umegaemochi at each shop and appreciate the garden.

*Notes

You should not go there if you want to talk to lots of loud conversations with a lot of colleagues. These Japanese gardens I will introduce are places to quietly spend. Please observe your manner.

Let me introduce you Umegaemochi shop with enclosed garden in order to Nishitetsu train "Dazaifu station" which is the starting point of approach.

“Matsuya” is the appearance of modern concrete, but Its an old-fashioned store with a history that the Satsuma clan of Kagoshima had in the Edo period. You can get out to the garden from a small tea room behind the store. The garden is a mix of elements of Japanese garden and Western garden. The garden of Matsuya is the largest area among the five enclosed gardens of An approach to a Dazaifutenmangu shrine. In contrast to the outside bustle, there is a very quiet time there.
