Pottering of a bicycle in Aomori (Iwate). Vol.8
The Morioka Shinkin Bank (former Morioka Savings Bank) head office is located near the former head office of Iwate Bank (former Morioka Bank), and it is still in operation. It was completed in 1927 with the design of Manji Kasai mentioned above. It is covered with granite and looks like a Greek temple.
The Shizukuishigawa river, Kitakawagawa river, and Nakatsugawa river flow through Morioka City, and it joins about 1km southeast of Morioka Station. After that, it becomes the Kitakamigawa river and flows from Oppa Bay in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture to the Pacific Ocean. There is a promenade in Nakatsugawa river, so I will try to ride a bicycle.
From the promenade, you can see an old building surrounded by white walls (photo). There is a willow tree on the waterside, and it looks like a "historical drama". Later, I found out that this building is a shop that has been around since the Edo period selling bamboo crafts and other miscellaneous goods. The shop is still in active business and also sells online.
This building with a watchtower is the fire brigade's guardroom "Konyacho Banya". It is a wooden building from 1927, but it is still used in active service. In the past, you could have a good view of the city from the watchtower, but nowadays tall buildings are an obstacle. The number of fire Squad members is decreasing all over the country, If it is this building, there may be young people who want to join.
"Wanko Soba" is famous in Iwate. "Wanko Soba" in Iwate, "Togakushi Soba" in Shinshu and "Izumo Soba" in Shimane are said to be "three major soba noodles in Japan". If you eat Wanko Soba, you will conquer the three major soba noodles, but you don't feel like eating it alone. Someday I want to visit with my friends and eat with a sense of play. (Photo / Wanko soba shop "Azumaya" popular with tourists. There is a line)
The Kaiunbashi Bridge, which connects the city and Morioka Station and spans the Kitakami River, is similar to the Eidaibashi Bridge on the Sumida River. The current bridge was built in 1953, but the first bridge was built in 1890 by the prefectural governor at his own expense with the opening of Morioka Station. It sounds like a good story to hear, but I'm surprised that I was collecting tolls.
After all, I don't eat in the city, I get off my bike and eat at Kirin City inside Morioka Station. The bubbles toast with a beautiful beer and I think back to this trip. I didn't want to eat Wanko soba or Morioka Jajamen in Morioka city because of the station soba I ate at Miyako station this morning. That's why I ordered 10 kinds of vegetable black beer curry (photo). Now, I'm going home on the Shinkansen. The last fun awaits.
