I am not the world's biggest Jonathan Demme fan. I have to admit however that The Silence Of The Lambs is a great foray into film-making. Demme's use of close-ups are there to put you in the face of the horror that is serial killing. Hopkins performance is a stand-out one, although I didn't care for Jodie Foster's performance much at all. Foster's southern accent sounded forced and slurry. This film is tight though and at 118 minutes it never seems to be long or drawn out. There are many scenes in this film you will never forget and many more that you will try to forget for a lifetime.
