We took our seven year old son to see this. He loves some of the darker animated films that have come out in recent years and my partner and I are fans of the 90s pair of films not including the woeful 'Reunion.
The cinema was dead quiet throughout, aside from one grown man chuckling at the odd 'joke' and heads turning towards him as if to ask what he found funny.
9, Paranorman, Boxtrolls, Monster House, Coraline and even older movies such as Nightmare Before Christmas should of served as a template of sorts for this. Instead it is what it is - a dull, generic affair which is put to shame on almost all fronts by something like Hotel Transylvania - in its third outing!
How this was ever test screened without going back for heavy revisions I don't understand, and I'm no personal fan of audience and studio meddling as it rarely ends well for the film, but this really needed something to be done for it.
We only stayed until the end to find out if there was anything worthwhile in the film. Alas, there really wasn't.
3 stars out of 10 for decent voice acting and animation only. What a waste of an attempt at revitalising this franchise for a younger generation.
And for anyone wondering, we asked our 7 year old son what he thought, as ultimately that's what really matters, he just shrugged his shoulders and asked if we were going to McDonald's. That said enough for us.

Most of us probably remember her best as Mrs. Cooper on the old Batman TV series. The addams family trailer. The addams family wednesday. For you movie lovers, DON'T WATCH THIS FILM. The original Addams Family films were funny, dark in places, and showed a loving family, happily killing eachother off in a gloomy way. But the new Addams Family is bright, colourful, and has acting that nobody likes. It is a children's animation film, so there is no sign of blood. The film surprisingly has no sex, but there is mention of the act. No swearing is including in the film, only words 5 year old children would watch. But the film is funny in places, and has some good scenes that save the film, but the characters have changed and that upsets me. 7/10.

I wanna live in that house. period. The Addams Family TV show was only on for 2 years. This was really fun to watch. The addams family 2019. The addams family my family. When you disappoint your goth parents... This Morticia lacks the calm and elegant look that the 2 past Morticias had. Both Carolyn Jones from the original 60's series and Anjelica Huston were graciously and subtly sexy. They have this sense of exoticness without trying to be so different. Watching this almost feels like it's a parody. The characters have no depth, no richness in them. And worst of all, there is no chemistry AT ALL between Gomez and Morticia. I'm sorry this is intolerable. I normally hate Black and White TV Shows, but I really enjoy this one.

I found the details to be stunning, atmosphere engaging, characters ludicrous and the plot alluring. Reading the reviews gave me a really silly grim. It's all the movie and the addams family idea itself tried to represent and to laugh at. The ordinary boring people of today.
If you ever had any doubts about public opinion now or in your early age, I am sure you will love this movie. If not then well try rubbing some earth on your face and get back to your daily customer service lickjob.
