I enjoyed every moment of this movie. The Villain, Joker, was more than a bad guy. He had a purpose : NOTHING. Just to let everyone know, you must go see this movie. It is by far the best Batman movie ever made. In fact, it is the greatest superhero movie ever made. Before watching this movie, I thought that Spiderman 2 was the greatest superhero movie of all time. The casting for that movie was great, but the casting in The Dark Knight exceeded my high expectations and deserves all the praise that they receive. Christopher Nolan (director and writer) made me want to be a superhero again. His direction of the script and the casting of Ledger as the Joker made going to the movies fun again. Especially after watching two scenes in this movie. 1) Erasing the Pencil and 2) Walking out of the Hospital.
Just to let everyone know, Heath Ledger was not in this movie. I constantly looked for him and couldn't find him. His role of the Joker was so fascinating that I couldn't even see him under the makeup. He played the Joker how the Joker should be played, an evil, chaotic person that will kill someone off the whim just to get his point across. I would go as far as saying that he made Jack Nicholsons' Joker look like a clown. The best thing about The Joker was that he was not a wimp, he took on Batman, fists to fists, and held his own. To me, that is The Joker, he is crazy, insane, intelligent, and understands he wouldn't be anything without Batman, because they complete one another.
Harvey "Two-Face" Dent was played by Aaron Eckhart and he put Tommy Lee Jones to shame because he had one goal in mind and that was to clean up the city of Gotham, but he was willing to either do it the right way, or the wrong way as long as the job was done. As Harvey Dent, Eckhart made him a character that would go to extremes to clean up Gotham. But as Two-Face, his role changed into a man that wanted revenge for the loss of a loved one. The thing I loved the most about Two-Face this time around is that he looked just like Two-Face in the comics, his face was burnt to a crisp on one side, while keeping his original look on the other side. There were not high amounts of color in this movie, unlike Batman Forever.
As far as Batman, played by Christian Bale, there is not much to say except that he is by far the greatest Batman ever. Michael Keaton held that post for so long, but we all knew in 2005 after Batman Begins that Keaton's version was never as good as Bale's. In this film we start to understand what it actually takes to be Batman. He is torn apart by the actions of the people of Gotham, some of them love him, while others believe he is part of the problem. This dramatic pull from both sides make Bruce Wayne want to turn himself in as the vigilante some thinks he is. Then there is Rachal Dawes (played by Maggie Gyllenhaal) that is Brucie's long time love. She is dating the new White Knight of Gotham Harvey Dent. This relationship makes Bruce Wayne to realize that as long he is the Batman, he could never have that love from her. Ultimately the movie twists and turns to help Bruce Wayne/Batman make the decision to save the city, in turn letting the audience know who is The Dark Knight.
Lt. James Gordan, played by Gary Oldman was a superb performance. As you are watching the movie, like the Joker you tend to forget who playing this role. Oldman makes a perfect Gordan, a clean cop that will do whatever it takes to make the city of Gotham a great place again.
Lucius Fox played by Morgan Freeman brings more sly comments to this film like he did in Batman Begins. Fox, the maker of the high-tech toys that Batman uses has some tough decisions to make in this movie that relate to how he believes technology should not be able to view people's private lives.
Alfred Pennyworth, played by Michael Caine is as impressive in this film as the last. While in this film we truly understand how he is Bruce Wayne's second father in so many ways. He desires to protect him from pain while encouraging him to do the right thing.
As for the rest of the cast, they play very good roles that included good cops, bad cops, dead cops, mob bosses, mayors, and the public. The cast as a whole deserve more credit than I could give them, in fact some of them should win many awards, starting with the late Heath Ledger.
As for me, I dressed up in my best Joker gear (no green hair or purple coat) and went to the midnight showing with a group of friends. I had a blast and the kids at the theater loved me. I did all of this dressing up and writing because in my life there has never been a movie more hyped and as great as this one. That is why I will continue to watch movies and hope that one day there may be a movie as great as The Dark Knight.

I couldn't believe "The Dark knight" could live up to the hype. That's perhaps the biggest surprise. The secret, I believe, is a stunning, mature, intelligent script. That makes it the best superhero movie ever made. As if that wasn't enough, Heath Ledger. He, the newest of the tragic modern icons present us with a preview of something we'll never see. A fearless, extraordinary actor capable to fill up with humanity even the most grotesque of villains. His performance is a master class. Fortunately, Christian Bale's Batman is almost a supporting character. Bale is good but there is something around his mouth that stops him from being great. "The Dark Knight" is visually stunning, powerful and moving. What else could anyone want.
