I went to their concert two times and Danny woods concert and got a CD signature from him and his signature on my cancer free shirt and now I'm 10 years cancer-free hooray 🎗️. So many talented gay actors reunited! This is like The Queervengers. Thats a little bit gay 4me.

The teacher is Lance Bass The female teacher is Debbie Gibson Guy on piano from Naughty by Nature Ronnie & Mike from New Edition. It's simple and easy to understand why marginalized groups would wish to be different. Gay to be straight. Black to be white. Female to be male, and so forth. Society does not encourage happiness, only conformity, or prejudice. Unless your born a white straight male, you may never know the lonely feeling of exclusion. And, believe me, many still wish to reinforce this separation in sometimes extreme and dangerous degrees around the world. And totally delude themselves of the rightness of this behavior.

1:29 As someone whos playing Michael in an independent production of the show, I can assure you that he does not like himself at all. I would have loved to see this on stage, it's a clever concept, but think it lost some of it's lustre when transferred to screen.
Jim Parsons was great but after his amazing job at Sheldon Cooper any future role will only disapoint the audience. Sadly what happened here and unfortunately detracts from such a strong cast.

WOW. the force is with you. What a way to reinvent yourself! I am very proud of you, know that you are part of my best years at school. Once we got five together to do a performance of the group (I was Joey) and we were a hit. They even asked us for autographs. I leave you a big greeting from Chile.

Netflix is awesome. Pretty spot on analysis. Great film / play. A hard watch at times. I have known every single character in almost 40 years out of the closet. I have probably been all of those guys at some point. So I don't think it stereotypes gay men. That film/ play could not be made nowadays without a reference to the time it was set in. It is of its time. A very important document for gay culture. As I said a spot on analysis. Thanks for posting.

I typically love anything with Ryan Murphy's name attached to it, and I love the original film and enjoyed the stage play but the film itself is terribly lit. As we watched the movie we thought something was wrong with the TV as it was way too dark. In addition the acting is very over the top which comes to be expected in a stage play adaptation. Personally speaking I feel Boys In The Band would be best served as a remake set in the present day with a new approach to the character of Michael. He isn't particularly likeable in the original film, stage play or this new film. My last name is quinto. 01:35 Oh yeah. Do you love me? 😍💋 💝💖❤️. Zachary Quinto - two of THE BEST Lip Synch Battle performances of all time.

Matt Bomer was my first heartbreak 😭😭😭 fell in love with him on White Collar then later found out I didn't have a fighting chance in hell. 11 year old me was crushed. edit: still love him though. Must admit I saw Zachary, Jim, and Matt and just clicked play.
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. I'll cast it as a work of art. A beautiful piece. Well, worth the whole 2 hours, from start to finish. Hats off to Jim's performance.
Loved it. This essay on the Boys in the Band is absolutely ingenious.  I do not recall reading or hearing of anything so insightful in the realm of the theatrical arts, or the creative nature involved in the making of a true work of film art.   The critical analyses of this film, here on YouTube should be used in all college courses and vocational courses on, modern film making.  BRILLIANT!  Now I know why I love this movie so much!   Thanks for the insight. OK Tamease.

If I had this kind of class back in school, I'd of had better grades lol.

Jim parsons being so good in this golden age of Hollywood themed netflix series

Isnt that Ethan or eidan idk. Reassembling the cast and director of the Tony Award-winning 2018 revival, The Boys in the Band" becomes a Netflix movie that can't entirely shake its slightly claustrophobic stage roots, but which provides a stellar showcase for its actors, especially Jim Parsons as the central provocateur.
Written by Mart Crowley (who died earlier this year) the original 1968 production and 1970 movie captured the then-shocking voices of a group of gay men in New York, written in the era before the Stonewall Riots and the greater activism and visibility that followed. It's a story that conveys the freedom of these men to cut loose amongst each other, while exposing festering grudges and one very toxic case of self-loathing.
The maestro behind it all is Michael, played by Parsons, in a role that's reminiscent of his scene-stealing turn as an amoral agent in the recent limited series "Hollywood, also made for Netflix under producer Ryan Murphy's deal. showcasing, if there were any doubts, The Big Bang Theory" star's versatility and lacerating edges.
Michael is throwing a birthday party for the chronically tardy Harold (Zachary Quinto) bringing together seven members of their extended group. But a wild card emerges in the form of Alan (Brian Hutchison) an old college pal of Michael's who happens to be in town, sounds distressed and wants to drop by, which Michael fears would mean outing himself.
The drinks flow, and so do the secrets, including the strained relationship between the promiscuous Larry (Andrew Rannells) and Hank (Tuc Watkins) the former's interactions with Michael's friend Donald (Matt Bomer) and resentments involving Emory (Robin de Jesus) and Bernard (Michael Benjamin Washington) who face racism as well as homophobia.
Director Joe Mantello employs a few devices to open up the story a bit, including visual flashbacks during a cruel game that Michael introduces during the final act.
There's only so much, however, that can be done on that score, and fortunately, the cast. anchored by Parsons and Quinto, whose exchanges drip with venom. admirably holds the screen. In addition, with Broadway theaters shuttered, the sensation of having a stage-like experience proves welcome in a way Netflix and the producers couldn't have imagined when this screen revival was conceived.
Fifty years later the play's text does feel less daring. the fact the actors are all out was hailed when the play made its debut as a sign of how far things have come. and after all the verbal fireworks, the payoff doesn't quite equal the build-up.
Still, it's helpful to contemplate how this sort of raw dialogue sounded in '68 to absorb this movie not just as a showcase for the performers, but a reflection on all that's happened. and what still hasn't. since Crowley and company first struck up the "Band...

I love this movie and this scene

Jim Parsons delivers dialogue like hes reading it off a page and yet he makes it work. Netflix: how many openly gay actors can you cram in One movie? Ryan Murphy: yes. Really nicely done! A new narrator working for Rolling Bottle? Fabulous. Why does Matt Bomer look exactly like Henry Cavill?🧐. For all the people acting like Netflix created this. IT IS A REMAKE. Thank you Netflix for updating this dated movie, the old version just looks and sounds too dated for me. I'm old now, but I can relate to all these bands. My first concert was NKOTB, in Shreveport, I was one of the many fans, screaming my heart out, couldn't talk normally for two days, but oh be still my 13 year old heart. I find pins in my stuff now and then and my heart warms with all the good memories of watching the VHS tapes of their concerts, there was 2 if i remember correctly. Wonder if I can get them on DVD? Only cruise I'd go on.

Curiously, part of the cast of this movie died of AIDS. Love this scene. It's a brutal film,  a relic of a time when losing your career,  family,  and your home was some of the least awful things that could happen to you if anyone found out.  When your only psychological defense was developing that stereotypical gay wit.  I try to take some comfort in Michael's line If we could learn not to hate ourselves. when he finally breaks down at the end.  I like to think that it implies the message is that we shouldn't have to be self-loathing.

Remember TBBT the 100th episode: when Sheldon awedd on Zachary Quinto Version. Ahaaaaa.
