Watch SEcret. S'o"ci.E`ty &of S~Econd& Born* ROyal&S Online Hoyts Watch*Secret*Society*of*Second-Born*Royals*Online*123movies. Disney just churning out another subpar kids movie with the stereotypical angsty teen and her quirky cohorts. All displaying insincere emotions and forced sass. I cannot rate it too harshly though because it is what it is. It's meant for kids. Inclusivity and diversity are well represented although not relevant to the story. It's got a not so terrifying vanilla villain and a predictable story. Truthfully The Descendants franchise is much better! Or if you want teenagers with superpowers just watch X-Men, supergirl, the flash, sharkboy and lavagirl, sky high or Harry Potter. Seriously every other movie and show that this film stole its ideas from is better than this forgettable little picture.

It's not the best movie I've seen, but it's definitely not the worst. There's just a lot of plot holes and issues in the execution of the movie. The premise is super interesting and has a ton of potential, but it also raises a huge question for me as a history nerd: how did this second born gene work back when inheritance was necessarily based on birth order. Historically, there are a bunch of examples where the first born isn't the first in line: Queen Victoria's children, Tzar Nicholas's children, Henry VIII's children. All of them had girls before they had boys, so what does that mean for the gene? Did the boys get the gene even though they were first in line? Does the gene show up when there are more than 2 siblings?
Also, the plot twist was so obvious. Anyone with a brain could have realized one of the second borns was going to be evil, and yet Disney still expected us to be surprised by it. Finally, there's the issue of the teenagers. Sam is supposed to be 15, as are the other main characters. They don't look like 15-year-olds. They look like they could be 17-18, probably because the actors are around that age. I wouldn't have thought of it as an issue, except there's a line that states Sam is 15. If it weren't for that line, I would have assumed she was older, closer in age to her sister. But then, Hollywood has a history of casting adults as teenagers, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

I swear to God the author has a child's mind, an unbearable amount of absurdity and a childish criticism of the absolute monarchy.
