As any afficiando of the REAL "Addams Family" the TV series)
knows, Uncle Fester is NOT an Addams. he's called "Uncle"
because he is Morticia's uncle, not Gomez's brother and the
children's uncle; he was the go-between who arranged the
marriage. a major plot point of the TV series. Nevertheless,
the studio went ahead and based the movie on the premise that he
is Gomez's brother, throwing away ANY credibility the film had
as a part of the Addams Family canon (or is it cannon. Thank
goodness the cast was better than the script.

I didn't find anything so interesting in the beginning of the movie, except for its unique characters and costumes. I also didn't fully understand if the they were all ghosts or what, and yeah, I fell asleep a little of boredom. But when I found out the plot, it started to get my full attention. The humor was so funny.
Little Christina Ricci, her acting was awesome, and so the others. Btw, at first I thought the woman who played Morticia Addams was Cher because they looked very similar to me, from the distance. Funniest thing was when the Thing tried to explained the urgent situation to Gomez when it itself had problem talking cause it is just a hand with no mouth, LOL. Also when Morticia acted weird by cutting the all the roses, the red flower, instead of the bad leaves or thorns. So hilarious.

The paradox of being in a family is that you can give other family members advice, but since you're family they won't listen to it.
That happens to be the case in this comedy about an estranged uncle's homecoming.
