In this drama, an English teacher haunted by her past explores love and lust with a dashing yakuza gangster in Tokyo.
Don't get me wrong; Alexandra Daddario is hypnotizing in this lead role and Takehiro Hira is solid, but "Lost Girls & Love Hotels" is a complete lost case I didn't love at all. The direction is flimsy, the script is poor and it can't decide if it wants to be a drama or a thriller. It could've been such a great character study but aims so low. Somewhere along the 25-minute mark, I thought to myself "this is going to be a train wreck. I wasn't wrong and it's a shame.

Lost Girls and Love hotels vacations. A lot of the reviews here are asking why is a great actress like Alexandra Daddario starring in this feeble attempt at a 9 1/2 weeks rehash. The reason is she's not a great actress, yet, and might never get there, but perhaps she is bored of playing the predictable yet safe opening herself to new challenges from exciting and dynamic writers and directors she might get there. Look at the likes of Helen Mirren, Meryl Streep, Rachel Weisz, they didn't get there by being safe. Good luck to her. PS I thought this movie had some of her most emotional acting.
