I won't say anything about how immersive and impressive on a technical level this gritty yet moving film is; I just want to say that I can't remember the last time I identified with and was emotionally invested in a character in a war film as I did with George MacKay's William Schofield. What a talent!

"1917" takes place soon after the German retreat to the Hindenburg Line during Operation Alberich and follows two British soldiers who are ordered to deliver a message calling off an offensive attack which is going to fail. This message is particularly important to one of the soldiers because his brother will be part of the attack.
This movie is unique as there isn't as many films based off of WW1 compared to WW2. The acting in the movie is brilliant and convinces you of the soldiers struggle.
However, the highlight of "1917" is the cinematography by "Roger Deakins. The whole movie is filmed to appear as one shot which makes you feel like the 3rd member of the team as you follow around the two soldier. There are multiple shots in this movie that are beautiful where the scenery and lightning full immerse you.
