If you like sci-fi fantasy be prepared to not be amazed in this area but i would say it is a fantasy through the eyes of Red (Morgan Freeman's character) because he does go on a bit about how he has never seen someone like Andy (Tim Robbins) before. If Morgan Freeman thinks he's cool then he is cool therefore this film is cool end of.

"The Shawshank Redemption" comes close to sounding one of those human victory. But most of it is conserved. It is assisted greatly by fine, circumspect performances from Morgan Freeman as a up-lifter named Red and Tim Robbins as Andy, the new kid on the block. The film spans nearly 20 years of friendship between these two.

Deserves to be No.1 on IMDb's top 250 films list. As the original novel is fantastic so does movie but the treatment is very very good. Art department has done a great job and the movie looks like to be from 1940s. Cinematography is also very good and so does the acting department. But once again its proved that the story is always a king and sure will be.
