In Japan, we do not really send the Christmas cards but we do send new years cards. We call it "Nengajyo".
Basically new years cards should be sent on 1st January so we start to prepare the middle of December. The cards are made in Japanese post office. We have to buy this special cards.
The back side design depends on the people but many people put the picture of the next year's chinese zodiac which is written by the previous article.
As you see in the previous article, this year's chinese zodiac is "Ox". This is the example.
2018, the chinese zodiac was "Dog" so the writer's friend send me this below.
Some people draw picture, some put the photos of family, the other put the photo which she arranged the flowers.
Most of people make use of the design software. you can choose something you want.

By the way, some people do not allow to send and take new years cards.

Usually people send this cards around November because the people start to prepare new years cards in December. We usually use the special cards for mourning cards because the kinds of stamp are limited. If you do not know, you should ask to the post officers.
