I first saw this movie when I rented it out from my local video store, I can honestly say it is the worst movie I have ever seen! It doesn't even deserve the right to be called a movie, I am a big fan of episodes 1 and 2 and I wasn't really disappointed with 3 but Empire Strikes Back is just horrible. The acting is dreadful, the bad guys aren't scary of funny and aren't even both guys! The kid who plays Luke Skywalker is dreadful and your left hoping the bad guys actually get him and strangle him. The storyline is just stupid and why they decided to keep the same characters as the first two home alone's is beyond me. Overall I have to say this movie is a big disappointment and I only gave it the rating 1 because I had to, if I could give it a zero I would.

The plot twist at the end of this movie is actually really good. It's executed well and sends the Star Wars franchise in an interesting direction. Too bad the rest of this movie was nothing but filler nonsense, lazy setups for future plot lines, and mediocre fight scenes. It's poorly paced and at the end, only three or four scenes end up being important.
The entire first act on Hoth is boring and insignificant. The pacing is way too slow considering that this is just the rebels' temporary hideout that is destroyed early on. This entire section of the movie contains so many scenes that are just bizarre in terms of why they're even included. Like when Luke Skywalker gets captured by a yeti for some reason and saves himself using the force despite not even knowing about the force. I honestly don't get why they even decided to drag out the section taking place on Hoth at all. The only reason it exists is to establish that the rebels set up a temporary base and had to leave when the empire attacked it. It would have made sense for that part to happen way earlier in the movie. And speaking of the part where the empire attacks the base on Hoth, the fight scene that takes place here is excruciating. It's dragged out way too much and the action is insanely repetitive. The entire thing is just planes flying around and shooting at big walking machines.
The scenes with Luke being trained by Yoda are painfully uninteresting and while this is going on, the other characters are going through some forgettable scenes leading up to one of the dumbest parts of the movie: Han Solo getting captured. He literally just lets the bad guys freeze him in a block of metal, which is one of the laziest possible ways they could have set up this plot line to be resolved in the beginning of the next movie. After that there's some more fighting and the movie ends. That's basically everything notable that happens in this part of the movie. It's completely forgettable and there are very few notable scenes in this entire movie. It's devoid of any personality aside from a few character interactions and the entire thing only exists to deliver one plot twist.
