寺田屋は参道が終わる左角にあります。寺田屋は本来は漬物店ですが梅ケ枝餅の販売もおこなっています。抹茶セット700円（梅ケ枝餅1個＋抹茶）が人気で、店内はもちろん建物の裏手にある庭で頂くことも出来ます。葦簀（よしず）棚の下にに緋毛氈を敷いた席が設けられ、赤い和傘も広げられ、まことに雅な風情のなかでお茶と梅ケ枝餅をいただくことが出来ます。寒い季節は席は設けられず砂に砂紋がひかれて枯山水として鑑賞する為の庭となります。写真はその頃の風景です。臨機応変、一つの庭が２つの顔を持つ。本来庭とはこういうものかもしれません。

On both sides of An approach to a Dazaifutenmangu shrine are plenty of sweet grilled rice cakes "UmegaeMochi" shops. Five of them have enclosed garden behind them. There is a tea shop in the back of each shop. They are basically paid, but you can use them for 120 yen UmegaeMochi. Please be sure to buy one or more Umegaemochi at each shop and appreciate the garden.

Let me introduce you Umegaemochi shop with enclosed garden in order to Nishitetsu train "Dazaifu station" which is the starting point of approach.

*Notes

You should not go there if you want to talk to lots of loud conversations with a lot of colleagues. These Japanese gardens I will introduce are places to quietly spend. Please observe your manner.

Terada-ya is in the left corner at the end of the approach. It is originally a pickle shop, but also sells UmegaeMochi. In the garden of Terada-ya there is a bench with red Mousen (traditional Japanese carpet) often used in tea ceremonies etc. It is open space. However during the winter a pattern of waves is drawn on the sand and the garden is for viewing. The garden with two uses is interesting. In Terada-ya we can drink Matcha. There are few shops that can drink Matcha in Dazaifu. People who like Matcha please go. Matcha set (Matcha + Umegamochi) 700 yen.
