I saw this movie when it came out,when Macmurphy took Ratchet by her throat people were cheering. It's quite interesting how actors considered as nice are best known for playing psychopathic villains.

So much has been said about the character of Nurse Ratched. How she's so cold and evil. Yet recently I re-watched this movie, and you know what? She is not behaving in any inappropriate way for the job she's being paid to do. Watched today, her behavior seems like standard mental ward protocol: Today in 2020, if a mental patient is behaving wildly, crazily, violently, destructively, out-of-control, the staff will indeed use all kinds of techniques to take them down, including administering of sedatives, placing them in restraints, imposing solitary confinement, and big orderlies wrestling them physically to the ground. Based on the very real possibility that they have become dangers to themselves and others. But this movie came out in the 70's, when anti-establishment politics were all the rage, so we're supposed to view the antics of these movie patients as cool, funny and nonconformist. But just imagine if all these events went down in reality? You'd expect the nurse to behave exactly as Ratched does. Many say that Ratched is cold and uncaring. but if you watch Fletcher's amazing performance, you can see that the situation is causing her great disturbance, internally. Not the behavior of an unfeeling person.

I wanna first state off that I have currently been watching top rated movies on IMDb's "Top 250" list. Being a majority of movies being older than I am, I have quite a few to watch. In "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" Jack Nicholson plays one of his best performances in the character RP Mcmurphy, a man that is admitted in a psychiatric asylum for being nonworking towards his prison duties. He plays a rather very believable character. Getting to the story, Mcmurphy thinks the patients have no control over themselves actually working towards leaving the place because of the head nurse. Mcmurphy notices this and wants to show them whats beyond the white walls of this psychiatric asylum. I don't want to give away more of the story so i'll stop there. Overall I liked the movie, I like movies that have a meaning and reason that people should start doing. Like under estimating that the "crazy people" around us are not capable of our regular human activities and should be kept away of the public. Jack Nicholson's portrayal of Mcmurphy and how he thought differently was a major satisfaction and showed me that there should be more people like him out their. The only thing that couldn't leave my mind was how disappointing the ending was for ME. I don't approve of what they end up doing the people in mental hospitals. I don't like how bad things happen to good people. Overall I liked this movie, It was a good time. -James.

One of the best dramatic movies ever to be stamped on film. One of Jack Nicholson's best performances as rebel convict, Randall Patrick MacMurphy. MacMurphy is sent to a mental institution because he's been a disruptive inmate at his former prison. The prison staff think that he's nuts. The funny farm staff think that he's trying to avoid hard labor by pretending to be nuts. However, domineering Nurse Ratched (Louise Fletcher) has other plans for his future. Excellent performances by De Vito, Lloyd, and Fletcher. Solid screenplay. A WINNER! score: 10+ out of 10.
