For me, it's one of those films that you need to pay quite close attention to, as most, if not all of the events that take place add up to the main plot, yet I don't think you would need to watch it twice. It may be complicated, yet it isn't flummoxed by so many sub-plots and characters that it becomes boring, not by a long way. Each one of the characters has a distinct personality which makes them easy to distinguish between. The story is intricate and interesting, with a general "what's going to happen next? feel throughout. It's great to see how the characters overcome these obstacles, sometimes ending up in arguments. In fact, I'd safely say it is one of my favourites, and I'm not surprised; after all, it did allegedly take 8 years to piece together. "Inception" isn't a particularly dark film, despite there being some pretty intense story lines concerning Cobb. There are some light-hearted elements to it, and many a "wow, that's so cool" moment. Still, I agree with it's 12A rating - It's a little too intense and complicated for a younger audience. The acting is also very good, with some well known actors like DiCaprio and Cain, but I'm not sure about Cotillard's performance as Mal. She seem's a little too teary for me. I'd prefer her character to be a little darker, maybe more frightening too, yet I still like the character. All in all, I'd say this was one of Christopher Nolan's greatest films, something I can never get tired of. It's got it's fair share of special effects, adventure and superb writing. It fully deserves it's place in the top 250 films.

Is it because they are in Arthur's dream and therefore he's designed it that way? Or does Cobb judge from experience that most businessman like Saito would keep their secrets in envelopes like that? To begin, I am biased in my evaluation of the movie because I personally enjoyed the movie. So, my advice would be to be prepared to sit down for a few hours, put on your thinking cap, and sit back and enjoy the movie.
This movie does receive a lot of critical reactions because it does ask one to think and remember and process; therefore sometimes it can be over-thought. It is kind of like when one knows someone is quick witted, but they don't like them; they'll then try to disprove their clever statements as being dumb or irrelevant. I believe that that is what occurs with the reviews that claim Inception isn't relative or realistic. It is just a movie. If it connects the dots, entertains, and has good acting then it should be enjoyed.
Also, some people may fall victim to all of the hype surrounding to his movie. If it is not your cup of tea, then it just isn't. No one has to agree with the majority that this was an awesome movie. There is no need to get angry with the film just because others couldn't quit talking about how awesome it was and you didn't think so.
As for the relativity of the movie. It doesn't change the world in any way. It doesn't try to. It is just a thought that was explored through a movie. Also, one can find many alternatives to what the actors do throughout the movie, but that's like questioning why anyone does anything. What people do doesn't make sense day in and day out, so why do the characters in a movie always have to make perfect, logical, reasonable sense 100% of the time?
Obviously I am a bit biased but there are some suggestions as to why one may not like this movie. If you are going to question absolutely everything, you don't like long films, you don't like films that claim to be intellectual, you don't like films with stereotypical actors, you don't like films with lots of gun fire and explosions, or you don't like films that everyone else likes; then this is not the movie for you. You can still give it a shot, but don't get mad at the film if you don't like it. There is nothing wrong with the film, it's only as good as the person who is watching it thinks it is.
