9:53 lol I knew when I saw the film that the bump was real.

Just watch the movie. It was awesome... That oner shot is amazing

When you discover that the film was dedicated and inspired by the life of a WWI Portuguese soldier, grandfather of the author of the film Respect the Portuguese soldiers.

The narrator is almost unbearable with his wannabe-enthusiastic voice and it takes like a week for him to get to the point.

1917, JOKER, PARASITE, The Lighthouse and The irishman. 2019 is one of the most epic years of cinema.

4:48 The camera could never move backward, only forward 5:10 (22 seconds later) Shows camera moving backward. Four souls downvoted this because they never found Colonel MacKenzie. For me the tears really started coming when Schofield's walking to the tree. He had accomplished the mission alone as he promised. I realized it was going to end where we've begun and the contrast between the exhaustion and pain and trauma at the end, with that of the beginning although now there's relief, there's hope, it just got me. Corporal Schofield probably died from septicemia a few days later after putting his hand with an open wound into the chest of a rotting corpse.

The song the guy sang at the ending was phenomenal. 4:29 my dad: this looks like medal of honor from ps1. ANOTHER DETAIL: Schofield cocked and pushed his bolt before engaging the German sniper in the town because he didn't cock and push back the bolt after his second shot when he killed the German pilot earlier in the movie. The way the details carry forward and are not forgotten is insane... And Sam Mendez “Leman Trilogy”. Show his talents in the Theater also. Reminds me of the end of infinity war. YOU CANT POSSIBLY MAKE IT THAT WAY MAN ARE YOU BLOODY INSANE. The feel when you saved someone's life from dying but in the end that someone is the one who will finish your life.

This is it. This is the scene... the scene where we all realized this was no ordinary film. Okay this deserved Visual affects.

One of the best movies ive seen

To me this was the best scene I have seen in a long time. From the score to the cinematography, this is master class film making. This track alone should have finally netted Newman his Oscar. Hildur's work on Joker is fantastic and it deserved all the awards but the fact that it completely swept when 1917's Oscar was also a contender is baffling. They both should have really gone back and forth in terms of winning.

Should be titled “facts about 1917 for the uneducated”

The tree of life. I can't believe I didnt recognize Dean Charles Chapman or Richard Madden until the day after I saw the movie. Normally for movies that aren't connected to franchises, especially movies based on true events (which this one isnt but It's inspired by specific stories) I like to go in not knowing who the cast is, but even though Dean is older now, I feel like I should've recognized Robb Stark's voice but I was way too invested to pay attention to the voice. With all seriousness, I feel like this would be the worst nightmare for siblings who go into war together, where they have to go somewhere while one of them stays behind, and then someone has to bring the news that the other sibling won't be coming home with you, assuming that the other one is going home at all. Blake clearly looked eager to see if Tom was there with him, and just that look of realization on his face, it's SO effective.

I swear to God that running scene to this score is one of the most exhilarating experiences Ive ever had in a not lying I remember feeling every hair on my body tingling and goosebumps surrounding my whole being... I was fully immersed. I tell u now Im getting goosebumps writing this because its reminding me of this friggin epic scene. seriously the whole movie was just god damn there now in my top 10 movies of all Mendes. wow sir jus wow. and. Thomas Newman take a bow sir for a truly uprising epic is what movies should feel like... a new standard has been set. Superb. Ends how it begins, sitting beside a tree. Unquestionably brave men. I took my old man to go see this he doesnt like war movies but he loved this movie especially this scene he was talking about the whole car ride home.

Why am I crying. My favorite scene where Schofield woke up after being passed out. The scenery in that scene is just so wow. How they played it with lights and fires.
