聞き取れない

Hi everybody! In every class at ☆IO　English World☆ we always do listening practice. So sometimes students say, “I can`t hear,” or “I couldn`t hear.” I know that they want to say 「聞き取れない」 but in English 「聞き取る」 is not “hear” but “catch!” 

 聞き取るというのは”hear”ではなく、”catch”っていうんですね。

So, here is a very useful phrase for students of English:

I can`t catch it. (聞き取れない。)

で、過去形にしたら・・・

I couldn`t catch it.

で、「何を言っているか分かりません」って言いたい時は・・・

I can`t catch what you are saying.

と言います。
