　長楽園は島根県松江市の玉造温泉にある老舗ホテル。その歴史は大変古く経営者一族は奈良時代にまでさかのぼると言われる。長楽園には昭和天皇の島根への御巡幸で御宿泊された「御座所・和泉の間」がある。御滞在は昭和４０年と５７年の二度に渡った。その後この御座所は半世紀にも渡り従業員すら立入を許されず、先代の社長が数日起きに風通しをするため立ち入るのみであったが、平成１８年（２０１８年）１０月以降、宿泊者に限り希望すれば500円で公開されている。（露天風呂付き離れの特別室利用の場合は無料で公開）建物の広さは860平方メートルで「御居間」「拝謁の間」「寝室」「食堂」「御召替えの間」および侍従長らの「控えの間」などで構成され、京都の宮大工を呼び寄せ建築された。室内いたるところに横山大観など第一級の美術品が飾られ美術館の如しで、昭和４０年５月１０〜１２日の御巡幸の三日間だけ飾られた地元島根県出身の日本画家・橋本明治が描いたツガイの鶴の絵も半世紀ぶりに展示されている。

　この御座所には専用の池泉回遊式庭園が付属している。池は滝を有し、池に浮かぶ島に向かって沢飛び石が配されている。植栽は池の周辺は格式高い松を中心としその足元を玉もの仕立ての皐月が埋め、その他に楓や紅葉がバランスよく配されている。滝の背後の高い場所には杉（ヒノキ）が林立し山岳風景のごとしである。池の背後は山の斜面で、裏門へ続く車道が斜めに横切っているが、植栽に遮られ車道はほとんど見えない。斜面の一番上に遠望する石塔も車道の向こうにあるが完全に庭と一体化し連続性は失われていない。巧みな縄張りと言える。またその車道は比較的小ぶりな自然石を敷き詰めており、桂離宮の「御幸道」を思わせたいへん雅である。庭石は角の少ないまろやかな風合いのものを中心に据えており、たいへん穏やかな景観となっている。この池泉庭園は回遊式ではあるが、室内から鑑賞することを重視した座鑑式の庭園でもあり、御居間には庭に向かって天皇皇后両陛下のための二脚の椅子とテーブルが置かれている。落ち着きのある庭の景観は御公務でお忙しかった昭和天皇皇后両陛下に穏やかなひとときをもたらしたに違いない。

This Gozasho has its own Chisenkai yushiki garden. The pond has a waterfall, and stepping stones are arranged in the pond toward the island floating in the pond. For planting, the area around the pond is planted with prestigious pine trees, and the feet are filled with azaleas cut into a low round tree shape, and Japanese maple is also arranged in a well-balanced manner. On the slope above the waterfall, cedars (cypress?) Stand in a forest, which is like a mountainous landscape.

Behind the pond is a mountain slope, and the road leading to the back gate crosses diagonally, but the road is almost invisible due to planting. A distant stone pagoda at the top of the slope is also across the road, but it is completely integrated with the garden and continuity is not lost. It's a skillful grand design. The driveway is paved with relatively small natural stones, and it is very elegant reminiscent of "Miyuki michi" at Katsura Imperial Villa in Kyoto. The garden stones are centered around those with a mellow texture with few corners, creating a very calm landscape. Although this pond garden is Kaiyushiki, it is also a garden of Zakanshiki that emphasizes viewing from the room, and in the living room there are two chairs and a table for Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress facing the garden. .. The calm landscape of the garden must have brought a calm time to Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress Showa, who were busy with their official duties.
