We make each one by hand.
We use a lot of tools to make each ring.
This time, we will focus on the tools that are indispensable for making rings!
I would like to introduce one of these tools, "Yattoko".
~ Yattoko ~
It's a name you wonder. What is "Yatoko" in the first place?
This is how this tool looks like. Not a pair of pliers or nippers.
It is an iron tool for grasping wires and sheet metal, and is also called "Yattoko hasami".
It writes :“奴床鋏” in kanji.
Since you can grab an object with a stronger force than your bare hands using the principle of leverage,
you can easily bend hard materials.
A long time ago, blacksmiths used to call it "yakidoko scissors" to grab burnt iron.
The name yattoko originated from The word yakidoko which means Heated anvil.
Which later deformed its pronunciation to Yattoko. (According to one of many theories).
Let's see how it’s done.
Most of the materials used to make rings are rod-shaped, and since they are metal, the thicker they are,
the harder it is to change the shape.
Even with such a hard material, you can easily change the shape!
Yattoko senpai are awesome!
I’m sure you understood how important yattoko is in the process of making rings.
