The MCU movies have been not just about the storyline they portray. They were the last frontline of cinema in times of on demand tv shows, at least from my recent experiences at the movies in a rural area of Germany.
People setting alarm clocks for ticket sales and sitting through double/triple features after midnight, this is when movie magic really happens for me and I fear that this is the culmination and the end of this kind of cinematic culture. Nothing like this has been done before and it is uncertain if we will ever see such an epic journey of interwoven films again like this.
This is a thank you to anyone involved in the creation of these film, since I am grateful for this experience and always was looking forward to the next chapter in this story. I hope there will be more stories like this to be told on the big screen, but I fear nothing will ever compare to the excitement before watching endgame in the midnight screening. This is what great moviemaking looks like and my wife and I laughed, cheered and cried along the way.

SPOILER WARNING. br> going into this movie I was expecting it to be a good film, but I was blown away. I will be going to see it a second time sometime in the next week.

From the trailers and teasers they released before the films release, I thought that there could be some early fight back against Thanos, but to see him decapitated was a complete shock. I didn't believe for one minute that this would be the last we saw of him though, and I was right. But the way that they re introduced him was a huge shock. The contrast from how Thanos was portrayed in Infinity War to Endgame was huge. We didn't need much if any Thanos screen time apart from major plot points and we didn't get any. Infinity War was Thanos' film, Endgame belongs to the heroes. And they didn't fail to deliver.

They plot of the film was laid on pretty early, after the (I know I'm over using this word, I really could use a Thesaurus) shocking 5 year time jump which I never saw a jump of that length of time coming. They split into teams with one objective: go back in time to gather the infinity stones for themselves. And boy was that a fun part of this film. Seeing different angles, and behind the scenes as such moments from previous movies was the best way they could mark a film 10 years in the making: re visit previous films. Although many predicted this would happen, it was still incredible to see them actually do it. The reappearance of many known characters was great. From seeing The Ancient One, Rumlow, Loki again in New York, to seeing Jane Foster and Thor's Mother again on Asgard, it was brilliant.

When Hawkeye and Black Widow arrived on Vormir to find the Soul Stone, I think everyone in the cinema knew what they needed to do, but didn't want to believe it. When the who will it be scene was playing out with each hero trying to sacrifice themselves, even when they wanted to make you think this is the end for the Black Widow, I was thinking 'no way will they kill her off, Hawkeye's time is up. Well I couldn't of been more wrong, could I? She managed to sacrifice herself and that was the first of many occasions during this film my jaw was open in (yes I know, gimme a break) shock.

After all the stones had been recovered by our heroes, they returned to Avengers HQ to build a glove and bring back their friends using the same snap Thanos did to get rid of them in the first place. Snap complete, and Laura Barton was on hand with her phone to reveal that they were back. 2014 Nebula, who played a really big role in this film, had already done her job in creating a window for her Father to enter through. Que 2014 Thanos' honestly the amount of times my phone has written Thanks rather than Thanos is killing me) explosive entrance, in which I genuinely thought Ant-Man was a gonner, and the stage was set for the final FINAL shockdown. I MEAN SHOWDOWN. SHOOWWDOWN.

All of our dusted heroes reappearing was probably my favourite moment from this 3 hour spectacle. Seeing the gathering of everyone we know, even Pepper in an iron suit for crying out loud, and Thanos never stood a chance. And by the way, the reunion of Peter Parker and Tony Stark was the scene that made me the most emotional. After a big final battle, featuring a brilliant team up of all the MCUs female heroes, it was down to the one and only Tony Stark to snap his own Infinity Gauntlet and get rid of Thanos for good. This was it. This was how that 1 chance in 14,000,605 outcomes had to happen. Tony Stark sacrificing himself to save the universe. And what made this even more special? The "I am Iron Man" quote that would be the last words to come from Tony Stark (well, a living Tony Stark at least. Cue the tears in the cinema, and my god did some people cry. There were people physically sobbing so loudly I struggled to here what was being said after. Yes, seriously. As big a death as this was, I think deep down a lot of people saw this one coming.

After the snap, we see Tony's funeral where the camera pans through everyone there, including the kid from Iron Man 3 for some weird reason I still don't understand. And seeing Tony's daughter telling Happy she wants a cheeseburger was another brilliant throwback to where the MCU all started in Iron Man. Then comes the time for the reality stones to be put back where they belong in time. And who better to achieve this than Captain America. And what a way for Steve Rogers to go. He decided to stay in the past and live out his live the way he was intended. He finally got that dance with Peggy Carter, and lives to a ripe old age where we see him just seconds after he left the present. He chats with Sam Wilson and hands him the Captain America shield with Bucky looking on. For me, the perfect way to end Steve Rogers' story. And seeing Thor joining the Guardians of the Galaxy has got me SUPER excited.

Overall this was by far my favourite MCU movie to date. It was brilliant. I laughed, I cheered and of course I cried. The perfect way to end 10 years worth of movies. 3 of the original 6 avengers are gone, but the future of the MCU is looking bright, and super duper exciting. I know there's a LOT I've missed out, but my fingers are hurting so this is all your getting. I can't wait to watch this again. It really was the Endgame.
