The Lost Art of Filmmaking was released as a DVD with a Blu-Ray copy on December 22, 2011. The Blu-Ray version of the "The Lost Art of Filmmaking" was done by Mixx Studios Inc., under Shinichi Nakamura's supervision. Due to the limited nature of the release, all retail versions sold out on the first day. All remaining units were sold only through Amazon Japan and Shinichi's official website. "The Lost Art of Filmmaking" is divided into 3 parts: "STORY", "PHOTO ALBUM", and "OLD VIDEO".

"The soundtrack was created by Shinichi Nakamura himself with some help from friends he invited to create music based on their experience." "Anime has an especially close relationship with music, so I wanted it to have a completely different feeling from live action. I wanted the camera to become the music, and I wanted it to be something that would make you feel something in your heart."

Even with Star Wars, even if I did get rid of large pieces, if there are still parts that look like features on an alien planet, then audiences would feel it looks fake."For all of his soundtracks created before "The Lost Art of Filmmaking", Nakamura did everything besides the mixing himself.
