This is my traffic for 2013, with a few observations.It was a great year for me on the internet. I had more traffic than ever before--a lot more. I’m not exactly sure why, though I can make some educated guesses, but with one exception the figures are encouraging enough that even if my hot streak continues through 2014 it would still be completely respectable.Blogging has done well for me at work too--I was recognized with an award at our office blog’s anniversary celebration in December, which was appreciated because of how much time it takes to produce quality content on a regular basis. We’ll see if this trend keeps up next year.My big traffic hit in 2013 was The Content Factory, which by itself made up more than half of my traffic for the year. I should have the book published in the late spring or early summer. I will be launching a website to promote it soon, probably in late January.Book reading was still steady at less than 1k/day in pageviews, but that was only thanks to my free ebooks, which were responsible for 994K of that total (and would have been higher if I hadn’t repeated some of my bestsellers during the year). Paper books continued to decline. I had hoped that the Kindle book I released in September would have been a big hit, but Amazon apparently decided to bury it by hiding it in a folder rather than giving it a main page URL. I’m debating whether to try again with a print release or if Amazon is just not a viable channel for me anymore.My traffic from outside the US continues to rise, and I’ll be looking at ways to better capitalize on that during 2014.I got another podcast production off the ground this year, and though it may not be as popular as my previous one (yet) it has been doing very well. My advertising income is surprisingly stable, but the major part of it comes from two very small companies who have been using my ad products for a number of years now with great success. I plan to work more closely with them next year.I was able to sell a few domains this year, which will allow me to purchase more from the right people in 2014. Overall, that’s been a good thing for me this year.Finally, I’d like to thank you all so much for reading my blog and following along with my special content over the years.
