Downloaded a file then it disaapeared

When I download files, the download appears to complete normally. However, they disappear and cannot be found with Win Explorer or the search bar. I have tried both Run and Save options; same result. Using Save, I have specified both the desktop and C:\Downloads but this file isn't in either. I'm an experienced computer user but this has me.  · You can try a program like 'Recuva' (free) which scans your drive (2 modes) - you'd specify recovery from the Downloads folder- and should give you an assessment of which files are recoverable. If you still have recent internet history, you might be able to download some again.  · If Open and Open Containing Folder in the right-click context menu in the Download Manager window are grayed then that means that the file is no longer in the original download location. It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox.



Remove your hand from your mouse or other pointing device. Press and release the Alt key on your keyboard. Press and release the spacebar. Press and release the M key. Use the Left or Right Arrow key to move the dialog box back into view on your monitor. Hold down the Left arrow key for several seconds. If the Save As or Open dialog box does. The issue might be related to antivirus program which you are using. If the antivirus deducts that the files which you have downloaded has virus then it will automatically removes the file from the hard disk and quarantines the file. I would suggest you to change the settings of the antivirus program to notify when threats are deducted. When you download a file through any browser, there's an option somewhere to 'Open Containing Folder.' In Windows, to find a file you have downloaded Open your personal folder by clicking the Start button and then clicking your user name at the top of the Start menu's right pane. Double-click one of the following folders: Downloads; Documents; Pictures.
