Cannot download vmdk from datastore hangs on flat file

These two files are really just two parts of the same vmdk virtual disk. You are correct! I uploaded the flat file first, then the small 1KB file, which did indeed overwrite the file where it showed only one file. Thank you very much for the direction!!

How do you go directly to a VMDK? I just want to make sure I'm not creating any performance issues, or compatibility issues down the line. I know they have a standalone converter for VMware, but my current VMware infrastructure is on my test network, so it can't communicate with the converter.

Any ideas how I can do that, being that the VMware server isn't on that network. I'm thinking at this point I need to schedule downtime, and move it to the test network to create the VMDK, but I was hoping there was another way. VMDK file?
