Daughtry - Battleships 4. Daughtry - I'll Fight 5. Released November 19, Baptized Tracklist. Baptized Lyrics. Waiting For Superman Lyrics. Album 12 Songs. Daughtry is not a hack, what he is is a student of his audience and music in general. You may be right. Michael Jackson was an innovator. He was groundbreaking, he brought new things to the table. I never saw any of that from Daughtry. RCA wants airplay of course, especially since he bombed at radio with his last album.

One took current fads and pushed them slightly further to stand out, the other copies to blend in. Daughtry has never been original. This pretty much. With this song I can hear an attempt to update his sound but he still sounds dated.

I dunno how to explain it. He needed to change direction for the purpose of airplay but this is feels like a half-hearted attempt, so it falls short. I like it. Daughtry needed an updated sound, and I think this brings it. Happy to see him change up the production, though, his sound was very dated on the last album, I thought.

November 19th. When is Taylor Hicks bringing out anymore music? Has he found a record deal that will hold onto him or do they all drop him at the drop of a hat? Look at Lambert, he was dropped for having his own sound. What works on the radio sells. Furthermore, what will the whole album sound like… Now I am interested. I know Chris started as a Christian artist so Baptized seems like a return to that.

This will be his 4th album with the same label so that alone is quite an accomplishment especially for an Idol contestant. I think Daughtry considered itself a rock band, not a HAC act. It does seem like he may be setting the foundation for that transition.

There are very few true musical innovators these days. Pretty much every artist copies something from other artists, whether those artists are current or not, and then try to add their own personal twist on top of that.

The title seems like a return to that in a certain way. But it could have many meanings. Totally agree. Chris started his singing career as part of a church worship band before AI and his past singles Home and What About Now received significant Christian radio airplay. Hopefully this one brings him back to the forefront.

It rarely happens. I actually like the production but the rest of the song is meh. My point is that a good writer studies the current culture, and writes songs that those in the present culture can relate to. Michael was accused of trying to provide music for the least common denominator, but there is nothing wrong with studying music, realizing how a current audience will respond to certain arrangements, or studying current popular culture. I doubt that he would have built the audience that he has if he just copied other people.

Very much like his voice in this. The songs received airplay on that format, because they were popular on pop and Hot AC, and the CAC program directors wanted to benefit from that. An album that describes an America from the margins, and that many consider his best.

Britpop is deeply linked to politics and local identity and emerged just as Tony Blair and New Labour were entering the scene. English romanticism was once again becoming attractive compared to the American identity, which was considered too hollow in the UK.
