Curry shop in Nakatsu SOMA

Hello, this is staff, Okamoto.

This blog is about a curry shop in Nakatsu ."SOMA" which I visit once a week or once in two weeks.

SOMA is located in Nakatsu, Kita-ku, Osaka, an area which has a feeling of downtown.

If you go by train, it's about 3 minutes on foot from Hankyu "Nakatsu Station"

About a 5-minute walk from "Nakatsu Station" on the Subway Midosuji Line, it is very easy to access.

It is about 20 minutes on foot from "our shop", so it"s a little far. I would go every day if it was  closer.

The exterior looks like an old folk house surrounded by plants and the green color stands out.

A lot of impressive foliage plants in the store 🪴 Staghorn ferns, monstera, curry leaf, etc ...

It feels like a small botanical garden and has a warm atmosphere.

At each table, a message card with "Enjoy listening to a modular synth with plants today."

is attached

Surprisingly, the store's BGM is made by 

electrodes that are attached to the leaves of the plants, and the movements of plants are converted into electrical signals to produce sound!

It's called a biofeedback system.

You can listen to the mysterious sound that plants play!

Well known as the music used by the movie directed by my favorite film director Christopher Nolan, somtimes it plays a sound like "infinite scale" composed by Hans Zimmer creating a majestic world view.

From a modular synth through a tube amp for warm sound quality、

it is a commitment of the owner who is active as an artist.

Everything in the store gives the impression of art.

Now, let me introduce curry.

The chicken keema is fixed, and you can choose two types of curry you like.

・ Pork belly

・ Lamb keema

・ Beef tendon

・ Hanasansho and tofu

Especially, the encounter with "Hanasansho and tofu" was shocking.

So to speak, I've never eaten such curry before.

I often ask for this.

The unique flavor of this curry could make you addictive.

This is vegetable curry and jerk chicken curry.

You may be able to order a special curry that is not on the regular menu.

Encounter with corn 🌽 I feel lucky because I don't come across this curry so much.

Recently, this was a special curry not listed on the regular menu.

I was shocked by the crab and clam squid ink curry! It was delicious ~.

It was the first time for me to eat the squid ink curry, but the taste of seafood was well soaked in.

I couldn't go targeting this dish, so when I happened to be able to eat it, it made me very happy. I want to eat this again!
