There's really not much to be said for the graphics in Imp II. They serve their purpose and they don't hurt your eyes, but that's about it. You won't be using this game to impress your friends with your graphics hardware. The only problem I had was that it can be difficult to tell if a mine is producing iron, copper, or coal.

Eventually I got used to the colors, but it increases an already steep learning curve. The sound effects are functional if uninspiring, but the background music should be turned off at the earliest opportunity. I don't know why games of this genre still have music included. I can't think of anything I'd want to listen to for the amount of time I spend playing these games.

I wanted to love Imperialism II , I really did, but it didn't quite have that "just one more turn" quality that Civilization or Master of Orion have. The economy is grandly orchestrated and finely balanced. Diplomacy has a natural feel and requires a deft hand. You can build lots of units in this game; from skirmishers and grenadiers, to cavalry and "man of the lines" that's a ship. Each unit will help kill your enemies ruthlessly without thought, and especially artillery when attacking enemy cities!

Wars with a minor nation are usually very easy, as they never really take offensive action. Wars with a great power are different. You'll want to fortify every one of your provinces and build fortresses in them for extra measure, but build up an offensive force as well. One weak point about the war part of the game is that you can't invade a nation on the same turn you declare war on them.

Other than that though, Imperialism is a wonderful game and worth a try for anyone who likes the managerial genre. All in all, I rate it a 4. It does have flaws, but it's still fun. Please give whatever you can to help us. Create new account Request new password.

Biggest problem: The AI. Seconds: Diplomacy is a bit easy from todays standard. Most important features: - Incredible interconnection of ressources including goods, influence, transporting and trade capacity, Military, Foods and workforce. Never seen better. Not even close. I would love to see a remake repairing the AI, Diplomacy and getting us decent grafics.
