Firefox downloads in temp files
Nothing new to report. I thought that we had eliminated the same condition this past July by finally removing Firefox and reinstalling. Since you have not found any malware, we should end this topic. I greatly appreciate your help and hope that I will not need to bother you again in the future.

Then, use it just like you would a local copy of Firefox. There are a couple of things to keep in mind:. To upgrade to a newer version of Firefox Portable, just install a new copy of Firefox Portable right over your old one.
All your data will be preserved. You can use the built in updater as well, but some non-personal files or directories may be left behind. Yup, the old mimeTypes. The prompt now defaults on "save file" and the checkbox for "do this automatically for files like this from now on" is clickable once more. Seems weird that a reset of Firefox would do something like that, but at least it works again for me. It appears something went wrong in regenerating the default mimeTypes. First time I've heard of that, but without a lot of experimentation, I'm not sure we could get to the bottom of it. I have just the opposite problem, how do I get Firefox to notify me when downloads are complete, show me where they are and offer me a chance to run them?
It used to do it, now I often forget I downloaded something because it does it in the background and I have to go chase down the "download" folder which I can hardly ever find.
