The reading is superb, and for that matter, so is the writing. But the story falls short for me. Review 2: Prince Lestat audiobook by Samantha. Would you listen to Prince Lestat again? All books by Anne Rice are good for multiple reads and this one is no exception.
The narrator is very skilled in making different characters come alive. Anne Rice mastered the history of vampire genre decades before other authors dared to opposed her genre and intertwining stories of each vampire and the witches who were another series all together. I would say that very few authors else had really tackled this particular genre aside from Bram Bram Stoker's Dracula, which is only like the Lestat lost, both seeking redemption fighting for their lost humanity and the lust of what they are.
This particular book is exciting and wonderful response to the first book Interview with a bei have disappointed me in any way. I was so enthralled when this book it came out before the chronicles as it gave us the beginning of Lestat's character alive too "damned.
Excellent narrator BUT, he does have a wide range of volume, so sometimes it gets veeery quiet, and I have to turn it way up, and then it gets super loud and I need to turn it down again, listening on speakers.

As the novel moves from present-day New York and the West Coast to ancient Egypt, fourth century Carthage, 14th-century Rome, the Venice of the Renaissance, the worlds and beings of all the Vampire Chronicles-Louis de Pointe du Lac; the eternally young Armand, whose face is that of a Boticelli angel; Mekare and Maharet, Pandora and Flavius; David Talbot, vampire and ultimate fixer from the secret Talamasca; and Marius, the true Child of the Millennia; along with all the other new seductive, supernatural creatures-come together in this large, luxuriant, fiercely ambitious novel to ultimately rise up and seek out who-or what-the Voice is, and to discover the secret of what it desires and why… And, at the book's center, the seemingly absent, curiously missing hero-wanderer, the dazzling, dangerous rebel-outlaw-the great hope of the Undead, the dazzling Prince Lestat….

Excellently read, great listen This has always been my favourite novel from the Vampire Chronicles series even though Interview with the Vampire is more popular but I've always held off downloading it from Audible because it was only available abridged aka butchered but when this edition became available I downloaded this, Interview and Queen of the Damned immediately!
