The installation process for each mod that you download will be different, and the corresponding website or Github page will often point you in the right direction. Usually, it's just a case of dragging the files you download into your main GTA 5 directory or the mods folder you created while setting up OpenIV - which we explain in the coming sections.
If you want to install GTA 5 mods, you're going to need a few important tools. First up is OpenIV, which is an editing and archive management tool for modding Rockstar-developed games. You can pick it up from this website. Download the file, boot it up and choose your language. Once that's done, install OpenIV on your computer and then boot the software from your desktop. Pick 'Windows' underneath Grand Theft Auto 5 to continue with the mod setup.
If you have the game on Steam, it will be within a folder marked SteamLibrary. Once that's done, click Continue, and OpenIV will start searching for the encryption key, and then load a little file explorer page of its own, dissecting your GTA V installation. You should be prompted to create a Mods folder during this process, which you'll want to agree to.
For hijinks out in the open world, there are Strangers and Freaks missions , the military base and spaceship parts to find. Want to explore more beyond the main game? This tool mods your installation of GTA 5 so that it can read and activate custom script functions. Download the ZIP from the web page, extract it to your desktop, open the bin folder, and drag the contents into your GTA 5 installation folder.
The Native Trainer file is a little mod menu and is optional. On the page, download the ZIP of the latest version and follow the same process as above to add the extracted files to your game directory. From there - the modding world is now your oyster, but just make sure to consult any documentation and scan the files with your antivirus before you install anything just to make sure.
The default path for your Sims 4 folder is located in your Documents folder. The Mods folder will generate inside the Sims 4 folder once you have launched the game with mods enabled. Right-click to open it using a simple text editing program, such as Notepad. You should see something like this, but on one line:. The number of asterisks equals the number of folders deep.
There should be six by default, as shown here. That was the easy part. When the boxes are ticked green, that means the mods have been enabled. When you downloaded your game, you chose a folder to install The Sims 4 to. Navigate to it and locate the Mods folder. For the sake of this tutorial, I chose a few base game compatible mods that are linked below.
Packages will sometimes come separately, but not always. Sometimes a set will be available only as a merged pack of content.
Locate the downloaded files on your computer and then move the files manually to The Sims 4 Mods folder. Keeping your folders organized can help you single out corrupted files that cause issues in your game.

Script mods are coding mods that can alter game behaviors, as opposed to pre-existing Maxis coding. First, make sure the modules and packages are placed into the same folder and that the folder is no more than one level deep in The Sims 4 mod folder structure.
The Sims 4 client will only go one-level deep when looking for script mods. As a general rule, always back up your Sims 4 folder to a USB drive or external drive in case of disaster.
This ensures you have an updated copy of your game Sims families and your mods should you have to reinstall the game. The default location of that directory is as follows for different operation systems:.
Extract the FrameworkSetup. Open the Sims 3 Mods folder. It should look like the picture above. If they are there, this means you completed the most important step, which is the setting up your game to accept custom content. Test if the packages are working properly.
Nobuildsparkles completely eliminates that. Go play the game and build something; if no sparkles effects appear, it means your mods are working in-game.
