In my case, using a dual-band router, I needed to select one or the other bands standard or 5G for connecting, otherwise I would get random drops. For me, that is ample bandwidth, but I imagine tweaking config settings will likely yield more for purists.

I should also mention that these adapters are power-hungry, and it is probably a good idea to ensure that the voltage provided to the USB port is sufficient to power the massive bandwidth the radio affords. This adapter is an excellent portable or permanent solution. For desktops, it is a good idea to put the unit in one of the back USB 3.
