Ie cannot download file security settings

In my zeal for better security i think i made it so my computer won't accept EXE files. If i try to download them i get "Blocked" in my browser. Does anyone know how i can fix this? If not, enable it and click the "OK" button. If their network firewall is configured to prevent certain types of files from being downloaded, then there may be nothing you can do to get around that, short of changing the file type you're sending.


Given the security risks involved in running IE6 these days, I imagine most companies still using IE6 would have pretty paranoid network security settings, so this is quite a likely explanation. This last step is optional, depending on the security level required on the computer. On a production server I recommend disabling the ability to download files in your Web browsers. In other words, as a best practice, do not make the change in this article on servers, only make the change on a client workstation.


If you have made changes to the Internet Explorer settings and are not sure about all the changes that you have made, you may want to Reset all zones to default level just as a precaution.
