There's no easy way around getting that much-desired contact information, and while we've shared a few hacks in the past on how to sneak around Facebook's closed API and get your information exported, we're updating that with another option Facebook offers you a chance to download all of your information.


This includes any photos of you or that you uploaded, any ads you've clicked or posts you shared, and most importantly, your friend list. The downside? It's merely a list of names.


But it's a list you didn't have before Sign into Facebook 2. In the top right hand corner, click on the downward facing arrow dropdown menu 3. Click on 'Settings' towards the bottom of that menu 4.


You'll be redirected to your General Settings page where you usually can make changes to your overall profile, security, and settings within the platform. Towards the bottom of that page, you'll see 'Download a copy of your Facebook Data. You'll be prompted to re-enter your password for security purposes and then yet again, you'll need to click on to start getting your archived information.


Click on 'Start My Archive' here and if you're feeling interested, go ahead and check out the 'and more' link down below to see what exactly will be included in your archive of data.


You can also find that information here on their help site. You'll get this email below from Facebook to the email address associated with your Facebook account. Within an hour our wait was only 10 minutes you should receive this second email with a link to download your information. Take note that the link will only be active for a few days from when you got the email, so don't let your download linger for too long after you get the link.


You'll see this very familiar page again and be prompted to re-enter your password again before your download can begin. Keep in mind, this is a fairly large.


But once you do, you might be a bit confused. The not-so-fun part begins here. Using your mouse, select the entire list of contacts along with their phone numbers. Right click on the selected contacts, and choose Copy. Open up a new Excel document, or if you use a Mac, a new Numbers spreadsheet. Using your mouse, right click on the upper left cell, and select Paste.
