I initially had the exited unexpectedly crash but then updated my driver and it loaded. Then my problem was loads of video stuttering so I changed a bunch of graphics options including going to DX12 and so I went back to the exited unexpectedly problem!

Wondering if anyone can help me out here. So I updated my driver and it worked straight away. Problem I then had was constant stuttering making the game unplayable in the recommended graphics settings. So I turned some of the settings down and restarted it. Less stuttering this time but still some to the point of it being pretty annoying. So I turn everything way down, basically every graphics setting to either low or medium or off and lowered the resolution. I use Emsisoft but other people may have similar AV software.

My issue was crashing during the bullets being loaded into the shotgun, or right before. In Emsisoft my antivirus I told it to ignore the RDR2 game folder, then disabled the individual modules of the antivirus.

I did that and the game loaded up. It did still do some weird screen flickers where it crashed previously but then finally loaded into the main menu.

HDR implementation is really bad. If I disable HDR in windows whilst the game is running it switches to a much brighter somewhat more like HDR setting but everything is washed out.

I got it to work…sort of I had to disable all security in my Bitdefender, then the game starts. Am I glad to find this WA, no Im not. I supose at some time the the game will be whitelisted. Until then you can do that. I do not have any antivirus. Everything else works well. For me I turned off my antivirus and my firewall and it worked, however, i would recommend turning firewall back on after starting as it being off makes you vulnerable and turning it back on after startup does not affect the game.
