Single Weapon Team Deathmatch - Like the above one, but with players divided into red and blue teams. Capture the Flag - Red team has to travel to the enemy base, steal the blue flag and bring it to the red base, while trying to defend their own flag from the blue team attacks. And vice-versa. Team Possession - There is a white flag and players are divided into red and blue teams.

Each team has to keep the flag as long as they can, until a team reaches the required total time of flag holding. The team that does not have the flag tries to kill the flag carrier and to get the flag, while the team of the flag carrier tries to protect him. Possession - There is a white flag: you have to pickup it and to hold it as much as you can before other players kill you and take the flag.

Then you have to kill the flag carrier and keep the flag as long as you can again, until you reach the required total time of flag holding. Future " OA3 " release will actually include a "Possession" gametype inspired by this one. Campaign [ ] Campaign in the main mode of this game. Current visibility: Friends-only.

If you're at all interested in this, you probably already know how to view a demo. Now when you start Quake 3 and select "Demos" at the main menu, you can select and play from the list of available game recordings. Things can get more complicated than that under some circumstances, but the demos in the first list below should all be viewable with that simple process.

If by any chance you have game 4, please share! And below are a few more demos from Quakecon tournaments. The added twist for these demos is that you need to have the CPMA mod for Quake 3 installed and activated before playing the demo.

The game played on q3wcp15 is the second of three. It's interesting to nail down a conceit or motif early on, and then try your best to work within it while developing the look and layout of the map. Inevitably though you'll run into clashes between gameplay concerns and the "purity" of the conceit.

Obviously the signature thing for this map was the multifunction platform mentioned above, and one of the problems with it as a play surface came out pretty early in testing:. They would miss the mid-level jumppad and its "backstop" , fall off the platform next to the wall, and bumble around in the recessed space below getting killed. So in the released version of the map you can see a little doohickey to the left of the jumppad backstop, which is visually signposting a clip brush that has closed off the gap between the backstop and the wall:.

This is actually the top of a giant C-clamp holding a work light of sorts, shown below from a side POV that has noclipped into the wall. As a bonus, the spotlight object clamped below the platform serves as a diagetic light source for that shadowed area. Untold centuries ago the Vadrigar , the mysterious Arena Masters , constructed the Arena Eternal for their own infernal amusement. Virtually nothing is known of these beings except that they savor the carnage and clamor of battle.

As such, they have stocked the arena with the greatest warriors of all time - and you have just joined their ranks. As a gladiator in the Arena Eternal, you must not only survive, but also win each and every battle against ever more powerful opponents. Don't worry overly much about getting "fragged. Those who fall are instantly restored to life and immediately thrust back into the battle, perhaps a little wiser for their misfortunes.. When the dust, blood, and gibs settle, all warriors will have earned the right to battle again, providing further entertainment for the Vadrigar.

But only the warrior who has fragged the most foes will be lauded as the winner. The victorious gladiator advances to a more challenging array of arenas, until, at last, he or she faces Xaero, Lord of the Final Arena.

Quake 3 contains a grand total of 35 maps, 30 Deathmatch-based maps and 5 Capture the Flag-based ones. Out of the 30 maps, 26 came with the base game, with 4 more added through updates, while out of the 5 CTF maps, 4 came with the base game and one more was added through an update.

The difficulty of the bots can be customized before the beginning of the battle through 5 different difficulty selections, from I Can Win the easiest to Nightmare the hardest.

While deathmatch maps are designed for up to 16 players, tournament maps are designed for duels between 2 players and in the Single Player game could be considered boss battles. The weapons are balanced by role, with each weapon having advantages in certain situations such as at long-range or being fired around a corner; the BFG10K is an exception to this as a super-weapon.

Weapon balance was achieved by examining earlier games in the series, Quake and Quake 2 as well as extensive play testing with well-known players such as Thresh. In the first Quake the Rocket Launcher was so effective that it dominated entire matches while the Rocket Launcher in Quake II so weak and slow that it was sometimes ignored.

Weapons appear as level items, spawning at regular intervals in set locations on the map. If a player dies all their weapons are lost and they receive the spawn weapons for the current map, usually the Gauntlet and Machine Gun. Players also drop the weapon they were using when killed, which other players can then pick up.

It uses a client-server architecture that requires all players' clients to connect to a server. Q3A's focus on multiplayer gameplay spawned a lively community, similar to Quakeworld, that is active to this day. Medals are small tokens of achievement that you can earn in every battle.

In Single Player mode, they will be recorded. The Arena is populated with an array of deadly fighters whom itch to test their mettle against you.
