It is the story - and by extension the writing and voice acting performances - that drew me into this world in a way few games do. Quests have purpose, actions have consequences, and there are several juncture-points where major, end-game-affecting choices must be made.

That the writing and acting is so creative and free of cliche tells me that there are serious, devoted artists and thinkers working at Larian who understand how these intangible elements can be used to take a satisfying turn-based action-adventure and elevate it to a genuinely provocative meditation on power, greed and competition.

In comparison to the world, the story and the combat system, minor issues - such as a rather under-baked crafting system - can, for the most part, be ignored. The graphics in isolation are not amazing although the design IS.

There are many complimentary systems in the game that require a decent investment of time and thought, which is not going to be for everyone. I would guess that some of the negative reviews on this page are by people who were either overwhelmed by these systems, or simply did not give the game enough time to let its atmosphere and story sink in.

I can't compliment Larian highly enough for what they've put on offer here, and I look forward to seeing where they go next! What a masterpiece. Divinity 2 will not please everyone, but if you like deep RPGs, you will love it. The game doesn't hold your hand.

You have to actually explore the environments and talk to people to find clues to complete your objectives no pointers telling you everything you have to do , the dialogs offer an insane amount of options, the story and lore is fantastic so far, and the combat is just amazing.

I could go further and say that Divinity 2 has the best turn based combat since Heroes of Might and Magic 3. Solid game overall, but not too difficult once you get a rhythm going.
