This is one of the main reasons why WordPress installations are often outdated, not updated at all, and insecure because of this non-update behavior. There are many other popular backup plugins out there but our goal is to bring the reliability and performance of a backup plugin to a new level.

We are now adding more and more advanced backup features to deliver what other existing backup plugins are still missing. Other backup plugins usually create a backup of your WordPress filesystem and a database backup which you can use to restore your website in case it became corrupted or you want to go back in time to a previous state. The backup files are compressed and can not be executed directly. WP STAGING on the other hand creates a full backup of the whole file system and the database in a working state that you can open like your original production website.

It harmonies very well with all the mentioned backup plugins above and we recommend that you use it in conjunction with these backup plugins. Note, that some free backup plugins are not able to support custom tables. For instance the free version of Updraft plus backup plugin. In that case, your backup plugin is not able to create a backup of your staging site when it is executed on the production site.

To bypass this limitation and to be able to create a backup of your staging site, you can set up your backup plugin on the staging site and create the backup from that location. This works well with every available WordPress backup plugin.

We like the Duplicator plugin. Even if it is not as fast as WP STAGING for creating a backup it is a great tool for migrating from a development site to production one or from production site to development one and a good tool to create a backup of your WordPress website. The downside is that before you can even create an export or backup file with Duplicator a lot of adjustments, manual interventions, and requirements are needed before you can start the backup process.

Duplicator is best placed to be a tool for the first-time creation of your production site. This is something where it is very handy and powerful. Import Your Site. This means it can be installed and activated directly from WordPress. When it shows on the page, you just need to click Install, and then when that is finished, you will need to click Activate. The plugin is now installed, and can be accessed from the WordPress Main Menu.

All-in-One WP Migration does not have any settings, and takes a very streamlined approach to the task of migrating your site. Any options are included in the export and import workflow. As such, to import the site on the new location, WordPress must be already installed. It is in fact as simple as clicking on this button to proceed.

There are additional options, and there is a Find and Replace function at the top if needed, but most users can simply click Export To, and continue the process.

The available options are exclusion options, and some are purely for troubleshooting purposes. A dropdown appears with apparent choices of where to Export your file to. All other options are individual extensions that you can purchase. For our example, we are just going to export to a file. The plugin then prepares the Export file.

I am migrating a site for a client. I am having this issue with All In One being stuck at during import. The client is not providing the hosting account information, is there a way to upload into FTP without the hosting account info?

If your client can provide you with the hosting information it would make the job a lot easier and quicker to complete. Well the same procedure worked for the others. You either entered the wrong value in the file size, or your host is setting a very restrictive limitation.

Hi Mona, I accidentally fixed it! Downloaded and activated the latest All-in-one migration plugin and then used the WP File Manager to change the max file size as shown above. Once you install and activate that extension for All-in-on migration you initial changes to the max file size push through. I now have over TB! No more tears and hair tearing.

Did you please directly in the folder? You might want to check your php configuration aswell by creating info. Let me know how it goes Denisas! If you chose a file of 4GB for example like I tried in mine you get the following error: Importeren niet mogelijk The file that you are trying to import is over the maximum upload file size limit of MB.
