I think that adding just a row or a column, with one town and one or two dungeons, on the general map would be a funny thing. I just wanted to write you a quick note to say "Thank you! I always found the game incredibly fun but I bit too easy. Since I've never completed the entire story, it's brought back a new passion to playing this and other games back into my life.
Thank you for all the effort in developing this mod. Although I've found a few respawn bugs in the Dwarf mines, it's only caused a few rage-quits which are acceptable. This game is really difficult to mod due to its age Among other things I'm a fan of it and bought it when GOG offered it.

The wood and ore are more common and serve to build the player's towns as well as keep the flow of the marketplace. The gold is less common and serves to purchase goods and armies.
The crystals are rare and valuable, and are required for otherwise unaffordable content like Champion creatures, for example. There is also a new mode called «kingdom conquest» in multiplayer, in which the players must capture as many towns as possible, and maintain their hold of their «kingdoms» for a certain period of time. In general the first two factions are «good-aligned», Stronghold is neutral and the last two are considered «evil». However, within the story-arc individual representatives of each can have their own behaviours that do not necessarily align with their faction's alignment. Each faction has its own individual campaign. The puzzles in the game are quite varied from riddles and anagrams to secret doors and levers. None would be too taxing for regular role-players but would be a challenge nevertheless.
The emphasis is balanced nicely between combat, puzzles and exploration. Compared with the previous games about half the monsters are new. One series of monsters are morphs and change to another form when you hit them, I thought this was a interesting idea. If you enjoyed the Might and Magic series you will enjoy Swords of Xeen.
If anything, I think it may be slightly tougher than the rest of the series and the puzzles a little more devious. It was, after all, written by a group of gamers. Nothing is known about the gate except that Xeen used it a lot, and thus the Dragon Pharoh sends you out to see what threat lies on the other side.
