Now i knew that epub is a formate like PDF. Thanks for sharing the lists. Thebase machine is basically the same as thewheeled loader. The wheeled dozer is used for bulk earthmoving, clearing scrub, spreading and levelling etc. It is used to excavate and load in arelatively small area. Most modern wheeledloaders use articulated steering. Earliertypes where rigid chassis with rear wheelsteering. The grader has along narrow chassis with four or six wheels.
The blade can be moved through a vast number ofpositions to suit any task; up, down, left, right, rotated , even at 90 to the horizontal.
There are two main types:- Articulated- Rigid chassis1. They can beused over rough terrain and on haul roads. They have limited rough terrain capability. It has a large load carrying bowl with a cutting edgeon the front. The front wall of the bowl, called theapron, can be raised or lowered allowing the cuttingedge to penetrate the ground. The forward motionallows the excavated earth to flow into the bowluntil full. The apron is then lowered and the bowlraised so that the material can be transported tothe required place.
To unload the scraper the apronis raised and the rear of the bowl tailgate is pushedor tilted to eject the material in an even layer. The scraper is operated via a crawler tractormounted winch assembly called a cable controlunit which operates the scraper functions viasteel wire rope and pulleys. Some towed scrapersare hydraulic powered from the crawler tractorhydraulic system.
It consistsof a wheeled tractor unit at the front usuallysingle axle coupled via a kingpin or verticalhinge to the scraper unit.
The scraper unithas the same basic components as the towedscraper with the various movements beingpowered hydraulically.
The motorized scraperis faster than the towed scraper but on somematerials it has to be loaded with the assistanceof a crawler or wheeled dozer pushing at therear push-loading. Some scrapers are singleengine type with only one prime mover, otherscrapers are twin engine, with a power unit atthe rear to drive the rear wheels. As it can be driven along the publichighway it does not require heavy transportto move it from site to site.
It is not as stableas the tracked excavator and is usually fittedwith stabilizing legs. It is generally fitted outas a backhoe and the upper works rotatesthrough It can have various buckets andattachments fitted to improve its versatility.
It is usedextensively for general excavation work. It has a slow travelling speed and requires heavytransport to move it from site to site. Wheeledand Tracked hydraulic excavators use identicalbuckets and attachments. The machine is mounted on crawler tracksand the upper superstructure can rotatethrough The drive for the variousexcavating parts is mechanical via windingdrums winches , clutches and brakes and istransmitted to the front end equipment viasteel wire ropes.
There are two main typesof front end equipment;- Dragline- Face shovelThe Face Shovel excavates at a vertical faceto load dump trucks. The trencher can be tracked or wheeledand consists of a power unit, a continuousbucket or chain mounted on a boom. Theboom is raised or lowered hydraulically.
The buckets and chain are rotated either bymechanical or hydraulic drive. All excavatedsoil is dumped at either side of the trenchvia a conveyor or auger. The drive to the tracks or wheels may bemechanical or hydraulic. The mini excavator is simply a miniature hydraulicexcavator mounted on wheels or tracks. They areversatile machines which can work in confinedspaces, various attachments may be fitted tocompliment the backhoe fitted as standard.
They are very popular where there is limited spaceto manoeuver. The mini-loader may be tracked orwheeled, the majority are wheeled. As projects become larger and morecomplex more and larger items have to be lifted. Cranes fall into four main categories:-Tower cranesTruck mounted cranesCrawler mounted cranesRough terrain cranesRigging and De-rigging1. There are three main types:1 Mobile, truck, trailer or crawler mounted. The mobile tower crane maybe self erecting or be builtin sections. These are used for smaller projects withstandard heights of 27m under the hook.
Rail mounted tower cranes are used where the projectis to last over a long period. The static type is used semi permanently, ie bridgebuilding etc and usually have a standard free standingunder hook height of metres. Over the years thetruck mounted crane has developed into a versatileheavy lifting machine with lifting capacities in thehundreds of tonnes.
The crane carrier lower chassis canbe from two to ten axles depending on the design andlift capacity. A lattice or telescopic jib is usually used. Illustrationshows a four axle truck mounted crane with telescopicjib. Most crawler cranes havea lattice framework of crossed strips type jib. Thelarger crawler cranes can lift over tonnes. Crawlercranes must be transported on special heavy transport, the largest models being transported in sections. The rough terrain crane is used on sites where a truckmounted crane or other type of crane would find itdifficult to manoeuver of gain access.
The chassis is of aspecial design and transmission components, ie axles, gearbox etc are usually similar to wheeled loaders. Liftcapacities of round 40 tonne are common. They are normallyused for roads and air field runways but small machines may be used to lay paths etc. The paver consists of a hopper with a chain conveyor feed to an auger spiral spreader tool running across the back of the machine.
